About the role
You are responsible for the precision execution of critical manufacturing processes that directly enable the operation of the TITAN Impedance Matched Marx Generator. You will own the full lifecycle of part production, from interpreting engineering intent through final inspection and documentation. In this role, you are the primary technical problem solver when production issues emerge, requiring rapid analysis and corrective action. You will leverage deep mechanical ability to assemble and adjust complex machine components to exacting specifications. The position demands a high level of personal initiative, as you will be expected to drive objectives with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment. You are expected to work extremely hard to make a dent in the challenging field of fusion energy. This role is for individuals who find fulfillment in hands-on technical work and take pride in maintaining and improving complex systems.

What you'll do
Set up and operate Haas CNC mills, lathes, and a 4 axis y axis turning center, selecting appropriate tooling to ensure precision machining of parts.
Write and edit G-code programs for HAAS CNC machines to fabricate components, constantly optimizing machine cycles for productivity, accuracy, and safety.
Select, build, and configure tooling setups based on specific part requirements and material behavior.
Use inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, and evaluate inspection reports from Coordinate Measurement Machines (CMM's) to verify the dimensions, tolerances, and quality of parts.
Run multiple CNC machines simultaneously, scheduling jobs effectively to maximize production output without compromising quality or safety standards.
Collaborate closely with design engineering teams to improve manufacturability, design considerations, and material suitability for both prototypes and production parts.
Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of part configuration, process parameters, and adjustments for traceability and knowledge retention.
Identify defects during the manufacturing process and write non-conformance tickets to communicate issues clearly and initiate resolution processes efficiently.
Procure and verify materials needed for machining jobs as per project requirements, ensuring correct stock is available for production schedules.
Assist in training new employees and provide guidance to other machinists in the shop on CNC programming, machining processes, and best practices.
Perform routine setup checks and adjustments to ensure machines are operating within strict tolerances before production runs.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing scrap rates, cycle times, and quality metrics to refine processes.
Support the maintenance and calibration of CNC equipment to ensure long-term reliability and performance.
Assist machinists in the shop with complex fixture setups and alignment tasks to support production goals.
Requirements
High school diploma (or GED) and at least 4 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in CNC machining.
1+ years of professional experience on setup and operation of CNC mills and/or lathes.
1+ years of professional experience reading G-code and programming CNC machine tools.
Skilled in using inspection tools such as CMM, calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments to verify dimensions and ensure quality standards are met. Strong understanding of GD&T and its applications.
Familiar with SolidWorks, Fusion CAD/CAM, Mastercam, or other CAM software for part programming and design interpretation.
Possesses a solid foundation in geometric, trigonometric, and practical shop mathematics, enabling the application of fractional, decimal, and conversion calculations to machining processes.
Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance procedures for all machining equipment, ensuring they are easily understood and executable by any qualified technician.
Establish and maintain a detailed maintenance log and a well-organized system for tracking equipment service, repairs, and preventative maintenance, guaranteeing seamless operational continuity.
Must be capable of acquiring forklift operator certification.
Ability to drive a forklift and/or scissor lift.
Must be able to travel and work.
