Key facts
What you'll do
- Provide first-line technical support to employees, addressing hardware and software issues in a timely manner.
- Assist in the setup, configuration, and maintenance of IT equipment, including computers, printers, and network devices.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot network connectivity problems to ensure optimal operation.
- Collaborate with the IT team to implement new technologies and upgrades that enhance operational efficiency.
- Maintain accurate records of IT assets and inventory, ensuring compliance with company policies.
- Conduct regular training sessions for staff on IT best practices and security protocols to promote a secure working environment.
- Assist in the development and documentation of IT policies and procedures to streamline operations.
- Participate in IT projects, providing support in areas such as system migrations and software deployments.
- Respond to user inquiries and provide solutions to enhance productivity and user experience.
- Work closely with external vendors and service providers to resolve technical issues and ensure service quality.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends to recommend improvements to existing systems.
- Contribute to a collaborative team environment by sharing knowledge and supporting colleagues in their IT-related tasks.
Requirements
- A degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred.
- At least 2 years of experience in an IT support role or similar position.
- Strong understanding of computer systems, networks, and troubleshooting methodologies.
- Proficiency in Windows and macOS operating systems, as well as common software applications.
- Familiarity with network protocols and security practices is essential.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with team members and users.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- A proactive attitude towards learning and adapting to new technologies.
Nice to have
- Experience with cloud services such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Knowledge of ITIL framework and best practices in IT service management.
- Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python) for automation tasks.
- Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals are a plus.
Skills & tools
The successful candidate will be proficient in a variety of IT tools and technologies, including but not limited to:
- Helpdesk software (e.g., Zendesk, Freshdesk) for ticket management.
- Remote desktop applications for troubleshooting and support.
- Antivirus and endpoint security solutions to protect company assets.
- Microsoft Office Suite for documentation and communication.
- Networking tools for monitoring and diagnostics.
Practical notes
This position is based in Malaysia, specifically in the Federal Territory Labuan and Kuala Lumpur / Johor regions.
