What you'll do.
Architect and maintain the core developer infrastructure platforms that enable rapid and reliable software delivery across the organization.
Define and enforce standards for cloud architecture, security, and compliance to protect patient data and support clinical workflows.
Lead the design of internal tooling that empowers engineering teams to build, deploy, and monitor services with confidence and efficiency.
Collaborate with product and data teams to ensure infrastructure capabilities align with clinical insights, lab interpretations, and patient analytics requirements.
Champion automation and self-service platforms to reduce manual toil and accelerate time-to-market for new features.
Partner with security and compliance stakeholders to implement controls that meet healthcare industry regulations and best practices.
Drive observability and incident response practices to ensure high system availability and quick resolution of critical issues.
Evaluate and adopt technologies that improve developer experience while maintaining scalability and performance under heavy load.
Mentor engineering managers and staff engineers to elevate technical leadership across the infrastructure domain.
Translate complex technical constraints into clear guidance for cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on priorities and trade-offs.
Own key infrastructure metrics and continuously optimize cost, reliability, and performance for large-scale distributed systems.
Act as a thought partner to leadership on long-term technology strategy and the implications of infrastructure decisions on product velocity.
Requirements.
You have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
You possess 8+ years of software engineering experience, with a strong track record of delivering complex systems in production environments.
You have 3+ years of leadership experience managing and developing engineers through mentorship and performance feedback.
You are deeply experienced with cloud platforms, infrastructure as code, and modern CI/CD practices.
You understand containerization, orchestration, and service networking technologies such as Kubernetes and related ecosystems.
You have a strong grasp of security principles, identity and access management, and data protection in distributed systems.
You are fluent in at least one high-level programming language and comfortable reading code across multiple codebases.
You communicate clearly and confidently with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including clinical and business partners.
You are comfortable making technical decisions in ambiguous situations and navigating competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
You have a proven commitment to operational excellence, monitoring, and proactive system reliability practices.
You are passionate about building scalable platforms that enable other teams to deliver exceptional user experiences.
You understand the unique requirements of regulated industries and can implement infrastructure that supports auditability and compliance.
You are collaborative, empathetic, and invested in creating an inclusive environment where diverse engineers can thrive.
Nice to have.
Experience in healthcare, pharmaceuticals, or medical device environments where data compliance is critical.
Background in fintech or other highly regulated industries with strict security and audit requirements.
Contributions to open source projects or public technical writing that demonstrate thought leadership in infrastructure or developer tools.
Experience with data platforms, analytics pipelines, or observability tools used to derive insights from clinical and operational data.

This is a full-time position based in Ottawa, Ontario.
We are unable to sponsor work permits or visas at this time.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada without sponsorship.
Travel is not required for this role.
This role reports to the Director of Engineering, Developer Infrastructure.
