Security Operations Engineer
Job description
About the role
Front is the customer operations platform built for B2B complexity, keeping every team, tool, and customer conversation in sync so companies can scale without losing connection. Others handle simple interactions. Front handles the coordination and context behind complex B2B customer relationships. Over 9,000 companies, including Uber Freight, Navan, and Stripe, rely on Front because it is the only platform that can run the operational layer that makes customer-facing work actually succeed. Backed by Sequoia Capital and Salesforce Ventures, Front has raised $204M from leading venture capital firms and independent investors, including top executives at Atlassian, Okta, Qualtrics, Zoom, and PagerDuty. The company has earned numerous Great Place to Work accolades, including Built In's 100 Best Midsize Places to Work in SF 2025, Top Places to Work by USA Today 2025, Y Combinator's list of Top Companies in 2023, #4 on Fortune's Best Workplaces in the Bay Area™, Inc. Magazine's 2022 Best Workplaces list, and Forbes Best Startup Employers 2022 List.
This role is for a Senior Security Operations Engineer who will help protect Front's customers, employees, and platform by strengthening detection, response, and security operations at scale. You will thrive in ambiguity, move quickly from signal to action, and build durable systems and playbooks rather than only fighting fires. You will partner closely with Engineering, IT, Legal, and Business leaders to reduce risk, respond to incidents, and continuously raise the security bar across the company.
The role is based in Santiago, Chile, and offers a hybrid work model with the option to work from the Santiago office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays to collaborate with the team, though in-office attendance is not required.
What you'll do
You will own the full lifecycle of security incidents in a high-growth B2B environment, ensuring rapid and measured responses that protect customer trust. You will design and evolve detection logic across cloud, identity, and endpoint surfaces to catch threats before they escalate. You will partner with Engineering, IT, Legal, and Business leaders to embed security controls into day-to-day operations and long-term strategy. You will translate complex attacker behaviors into clear detection rules and playbooks that scale with the business. You will drive security automation to eliminate manual noise and accelerate response times for high-severity events. You will lead investigations into account compromise, data exposure, and suspicious activity while maintaining calm, structured communication. You will continuously measure and refine security posture through metrics, runbooks, and operational reviews that keep the platform resilient.
- Own end-to-end security incident response, including triage, containment, eradication, recovery, and post-incident learnings.
- Build and continuously improve detection coverage across cloud, endpoint, identity, and SaaS systems.
- Develop security automation and workflows to reduce manual toil and improve response speed.
- Lead investigations into suspicious activity, account compromise, and potential data exposure events.
- Partner with Engineering and IT to harden systems, improve logging/telemetry, and close recurring control gaps.
- Drive readiness through tabletop exercises, runbooks, metrics, and operational reviews.
- Manage security tooling configuration and tuning (SIEM, EDR, IAM, alerting) to reduce noise and increase fidelity.
- Communicate clearly during high-severity situations, aligning stakeholders on impact, status, and next steps.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in Security Operations, Incident Response, Detection Engineering, or similar security roles.
- Strong understanding of attacker techniques and defensive strategies across cloud, endpoint, identity, and network surfaces.
- Hands-on experience with SIEMs, EDR platforms, and investigation workflows, including log querying and alert tuning.
- Ability to use AI tools to streamline security operations and response.
- Experience building incident response processes, playbooks, and operational metrics that scale with company growth.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to influence Engineering and IT partners without relying on authority.
- Calm, structured decision-making under pressure, with strong written incident communication.
- AI fluency: ability to use AI tools to accelerate investigations (summarization, clustering, query generation) while validating outputs and protecting sensitive data.
What we offer
- Competitive monthly rate.
- 6-month contract with a possibility of extension.
