Senior Software Engineer
Job description
About the role
At FloSports, the Senior Full Stack Developer role centers on designing and evolving scalable web platforms that power both live and on-demand streaming experiences for a diverse and growing global audience. This is a hands-on position that blends frontend craftsmanship with backend pragmatism, requiring ownership of the full lifecycle of high-impact features from initial design through deployment and optimization. You will work closely with cross-functional partners to translate complex business requirements into maintainable, high-performance software solutions. The role emphasizes clean architecture, thoughtful design, and creative problem-solving within fast-paced, ambiguous environments. Your work will directly shape how athletes, fans, and organizers engage with FloSports' platform, and you are expected to mentor peers and elevate technical standards across your team.
What you'll do
You will architect and deliver scalable web applications that reliably handle live event data and high concurrency demands while maintaining exceptional responsiveness. This includes engineering reusable UI component libraries that ensure design consistency, accessibility, and outstanding user experience across a wide range of devices. You will develop robust backend services and RESTful APIs that integrate seamlessly with intricate frontend workflows, enabling real-time interactions and reliable data flow. A key responsibility is evaluating and proposing architectural changes that align the long-term product vision with current delivery needs without compromising scalability or maintainability. You will conduct thorough code reviews that foster knowledge sharing and help peers improve software quality, testing standards, and overall delivery reliability.
Collaboration with product managers, designers, and data teams will be central as you refine requirements, define technical specifications, and accurately estimate project scope. You will proactively identify technical debt and lead initiatives that balance rapid feature delivery with sustainable, high-quality code. This includes translating ambiguous business goals into concrete technical specifications and implementation plans that stakeholders can understand and act on. You will implement solutions for complex systems such as real-time ad delivery networks and secure authentication workflows, ensuring reliability and performance at scale. The role also involves driving the adoption of modern practices in TypeScript, React, and Node.js to maintain a competitive engineering edge, while collaborating with data and analytics partners to instrument features and validate performance and engagement metrics. Mentoring junior engineers through pair programming, constructive feedback, and clear documentation of best practices is an expected part of this role.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you must demonstrate a strong foundation in software engineering principles, design patterns, and clean code practices that produce maintainable and testable systems. Proficiency in TypeScript and modern frontend frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue is essential, as these tools underpin the user experiences delivered by FloSports. You should exhibit skill in Node.js for building high-performance APIs and microservices that integrate with streaming and data platforms. Experience with responsive, mobile-first web application development is required to ensure broad device compatibility and accessibility.
Familiarity with monorepo tooling, object-oriented programming principles, and scalable system architecture will help you contribute effectively across multiple teams and codebases. You must possess experience designing solutions for complex systems such as ad delivery networks or authentication providers, where reliability, security, and performance are critical. An ownership mindset and a proven drive for results are necessary, along with creative problem-solving skills when navigating ambiguous and evolving requirements. Effective communication skills are vital to align technical decisions with business objectives and stakeholder expectations, ensuring that engineering outcomes support organizational goals.
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field is required, along with a minimum of six years of professional software development experience. You should have a track record of delivering production-grade software in fast-paced settings, demonstrating reliability under pressure. Commitment to writing tests, performing code reviews, and improving development workflows is expected, as is the ability to work legally in the United States without sponsorship at this time. Remote work is possible within the specific state or regional policies governing U.S.-based roles, and no onsite work, travel, visa sponsorship, or specific working hours are specified in this posting.
Nice to have
Hands-on experience with Angular and NestJS is valued for building cohesive full-stack solutions, as is familiarity with NX monorepos to manage shared libraries and streamline development across multiple teams. These skills can help accelerate delivery and improve consistency in how features are implemented and maintained across the FloSports platform.
