About the role

The Forward Deployed Consultant role involves working directly with enterprise clients to implement and optimize supply chain solutions using the Flexport platform. This position requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams across engineering, product, and operations departments. The consultant serves as a bridge between Flexport's software capabilities and the operational needs of diverse business customers, and plays a critical part in ensuring that clients achieve their operational goals through effective platform adoption.

What you'll do
- Partner with client teams to understand their supply chain challenges and current workflows thoroughly
- Configure and deploy Flexport's platform solutions tailored to specific client requirements and business processes
- Conduct on-site visits to gather detailed requirements and validate solution designs with end users
- Translate client business needs into clear technical specifications that engineering teams can execute effectively
- Lead comprehensive training sessions and workshops to onboard new users onto the Flexport platform
- Monitor implementation progress closely and ensure all project milestones are met according to schedule
- Collaborate with product managers to relay client feedback and prioritize feature requests for development
- Analyze operational data to identify inefficiencies and recommend meaningful process improvements for clients
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients during the active engagement period
- Document project outcomes, lessons learned, and best practices for future deployments and knowledge sharing
- Coordinate with Flexport's customer success team to ensure continuity of support after initial deployment
- Identify opportunities for platform expansion within existing client accounts to drive long-term value
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience in supply chain, logistics, or operations consulting roles is essential for this position
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex operational datasets and derive actionable insights
- Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills across diverse internal and external stakeholder groups and cross-functional partners
- Willingness to travel frequently to client locations as required by the role on a regular basis
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as business administration, supply chain management, or engineering
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent client engagements simultaneously with strong attention to detail and organization
- Comfort with ambiguity and adapting quickly to varying client environments, industries, and organizational cultures
- Prior relevant experience working with enterprise-level clients or in a formal consulting capacity is highly valued
Nice to have
- Familiarity with freight forwarding, customs brokerage, or international trade processes is highly valuable in this role
- Experience with project management frameworks and methodologies such as Agile or Scrum is preferred
- Knowledge of warehouse management systems or transportation management platforms is a strong plus for candidates
- Background in technology startups or fast-paced environments where rapid iteration and adaptation are valued
- Exposure to data analytics or business intelligence tools in a consulting or operations context
Skills & tools
- Proficiency in supply chain modeling and optimization techniques to support client engagement work
- Experience with data visualization and reporting platforms to create compelling client presentations
- Familiarity with customer relationship management software systems and sales operation workflows
- Understanding of cloud-based enterprise software deployment workflows and implementation methodologies
- Competence in spreadsheet and presentation tools for preparing professional client deliverables and reports
- Ability to navigate multiple software systems across different client environments with minimal training
