About the role
Finsana is seeking a dedicated Compliance Officer to join our dynamic team in Ciudad de Panamá, Panamá. This full-time position is critical in ensuring that our operations adhere to regulatory standards and internal policies. The ideal candidate will play a role in identifying compliance risks and implementing effective strategies to mitigate them. As a Compliance Officer, you will collaborate closely with various departments to foster a culture of compliance and ethical conduct throughout the organization.

What you'll do
- Develop, implement, and maintain compliance programs and policies that align with local and international regulations.
- Conduct regular compliance audits and risk assessments to identify areas of improvement and ensure adherence to established guidelines.
- Collaborate with legal and operational teams to interpret regulatory requirements and provide guidance on compliance-related matters.
- Prepare and deliver training sessions for employees on compliance policies, procedures, and best practices to enhance awareness and understanding.
- Monitor changes in legislation and industry standards to ensure that the company remains compliant with all applicable laws.
- Investigate compliance breaches or violations and recommend corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of compliance activities, including audit results, training records, and incident reports.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies and external auditors during compliance reviews and inspections.
- Assist in the development of compliance-related metrics and reporting to senior management, highlighting key risks and areas for improvement.
- Foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders to promote a culture of compliance and ethical behavior across the organization.
- Participate in industry forums and networking events to stay updated on best practices and emerging trends in compliance.
- Support the development of compliance-related communication materials for internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Law, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in compliance, risk management, or a related area, preferably within the financial services sector.
- Strong understanding of local and international regulatory frameworks, including anti-money laundering (AML) and know your customer (KYC) regulations.
- Proven ability to conduct compliance audits and risk assessments effectively.
- Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail and the ability to interpret complex regulations.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey compliance concepts to diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and compliance management software.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong ethical standards and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
Nice to have
- Professional certifications such as Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP) or Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS).
- Experience in developing compliance training programs and materials.
- Familiarity with data protection regulations and practices.
- Multilingual capabilities, particularly in Spanish and English, are a plus.
- Previous experience in a fintech or technology-driven organization.
