About the role
You will own the design and implementation of features that bridge wellness and gaming to create a delightful user experience. You will partner closely with founders, designers, and cross-functional teams to define the technical roadmap and ensure alignment with product goals. You will play a critical role in growing our engineering team and establishing the norms and tools that drive high performance. You will have the autonomy to make end-to-end decisions from ideation through launch, taking full ownership of your work. You will challenge assumptions and iterate quickly to ensure our product remains fun, accessible, and impactful for users. You will contribute to the architecture of our systems with an eye toward scalability and reliability. You will be a thought partner in building a product, company, and culture we are proud of.
Key facts
What you'll do
- You will spearhead the evolution of our mobile app as our fifth engineer, owning key milestones in the product journey.
- You will operate with high autonomy and speed, guiding ideas from initial concept to launched decision with minimal friction.
- You will shape the engineering and product norms that define how our team delivers impactful experiences.
- You will collaborate directly with product designers, creative designers, character animators, and founders to align on vision and execution.
- You will act as a strategic thought partner in building a sustainable product, company, and culture that reflects our values.
- You will tackle challenging questions about how people interact with their devices to foster mental well-being rather than distraction.
- You will explore innovative approaches to social interaction that enable users to support one another in uniquely meaningful ways.
- You will reimagine evidence-based wellness exercises such as CBT and mental health insights into engaging and accessible formats.
- You will design playful product experiences that make daily self-care feel fun and sustainably engaging for a wide audience.
- You will help construct a generalizable platform for mental health tools that serve users at every stage of their self-care journey.
- You will evaluate opportunities to simplify complex problems into elegant, user-centric solutions that scale effectively.
- You will integrate data from A/B experiments with qualitative feedback to guide product decisions and validate outcomes.
- You will ensure that mobile and web implementations follow best practices for performance, maintainability, and reliability.
- You will communicate clearly and work cross-functionally to keep momentum high across design, engineering, and creative disciplines.
Requirements
- You have 5+ years of experience building consumer products for mobile or full-stack environments.
- You maintain a product-centric mindset and take pride in crafting experiences that users love to engage with daily.
- You naturally identify tradeoffs for any product decision to inform thoughtful opinions about user experience.
- You can quickly derisk new ideas, whether they involve quick iterative changes or entirely new product experiences.
- You move with a strong sense of urgency and a can-do attitude in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- You are skilled at designing clean, maintainable APIs that support long-term product growth.
- You have run many A/B experiments and can synthesize quantitative and qualitative insights to guide decisions.
- You are familiar with best practices in engineering for mobile apps and the web to build scalable and reliable solutions.
- You enjoy disentangling ambiguous and messy problems to arrive at simple and elegant solutions.
- You can work at least 6 hours within our coordination hours (8am PST - 6pm PST).
Nice to have
- Experience developing Flutter mobile apps.
- Experience working on products in the wellness or game industry.
