The Software Integration Engineer will play a crucial role within our Systems Integration Team, acting as the essential bridge among our AI, controls, firmware, and hardware sectors. What you'll do

• Act as the primary technical expert for our robotic systems, engaging in hands-on testing and overseeing the resolution of issues that arise.
• Collaborate closely with teams focused on AI, controls, platform software, and manufacturing to troubleshoot system bugs and implement necessary architectural enhancements.
• Develop and oversee comprehensive test plans aimed at validating new firmware and software functionalities.
• Partner with manufacturing and development teams to enhance diagnostics and firmware, leveraging end-of-line data to expedite the robot bring-up process.
• Ensure that software releases are thoroughly validated before they are deployed to service and manufacturing teams, providing direct assistance during troubleshooting efforts.
• Work alongside the test infrastructure team to create automated diagnostics and high-signal tests that help prevent regressions and improve overall system reliability.
• Document findings and create reports that detail testing outcomes, issues encountered, and resolutions implemented.
• Participate in design reviews and provide feedback on system architecture to enhance integration efforts.
• Mentor junior engineers and interns, sharing knowledge and best practices in software integration and testing methodologies.
• Stay updated with the latest advancements in robotics and software engineering to continually improve integration processes and methodologies.
• Engage in cross-functional meetings to ensure alignment on project goals and timelines, advocating for the integration team's needs and priorities.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
• Strong programming skills in Python and C++.
• Demonstrated experience in validating and integrating complex software systems, particularly in mechatronics, robotics, or electric vehicle domains.
• Proven ability to debug complex interactions between hardware and software, effectively isolating root causes through targeted testing strategies.
• Capacity to manage multiple high-priority tasks simultaneously, demonstrating a proactive and ownership-oriented approach to work.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Nice to have

• Experience with robotic operating systems (ROS) or similar frameworks.
• Familiarity with machine learning algorithms and their application in robotics.
• Knowledge of hardware design and integration processes.
• Previous experience in a startup environment, particularly in robotics or automation.
• Understanding of safety standards and regulations related to robotics.

Skills & tools

• Proficient in C++ and Python programming languages.
• Expertise in robotics system integration and mechatronics principles.
• Strong skills in hardware/software debugging and troubleshooting.
• Experience in developing automated testing frameworks and methodologies.
• Familiarity with version control systems, such as Git.

Practical notes

The annual base salary for the Software Integration Engineer role ranges from $130,000 to $250,000. The final compensation package will be tailored based on the candidate's individual experience, skills, and relevant job knowledge. Additional details regarding benefits and compensation will be shared upon extending an offer. Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States, and visa sponsorship may be available for qualified applicants.
