About the role
The AI Products Data Science organization is seeking a leader to guide the development of next-generation features at Figma. You will oversee a team focused on integrating statistical frameworks and data-driven insights into our product development cycle. In this capacity, you will define the technical vision for how data informs our AI initiatives and ensure that analytical rigor is embedded into every stage of the product lifecycle. You will own the end-to-end data strategy that connects advanced modeling with tangible product outcomes, translating complex findings into actionable guidance for the business. Your leadership will establish the standards by which the organization measures the success and reliability of its data programs. You will act as the primary architect of our data culture, ensuring that methodologies are both cutting edge and practically applied. This role requires a balance of deep analytical expertise and the ability to communicate effectively with non-technical stakeholders. You will be responsible for ensuring that our data practices support long-term innovation and sustainable growth.

What you'll do
- Direct the strategy and execution of data science initiatives that drive product innovation and business impact.
- Oversee the development and maintenance of internal tooling to ensure efficient workflows and high-quality data outputs.
- Establish and enforce quality standards that govern data integrity, model performance, and analytical accuracy across teams.
- Design and implement measurement frameworks that quantify the effectiveness of product features and data-driven experiments.
- Foster cross-functional collaboration by partnering with Product, Engineering, Design, Research, Sales, Marketing, and Finance to align on objectives.
- Lead the integration of statistical frameworks and forecasting models into the core of Figma's product development cycle.
- Build a culture of accountability and trust within the data science organization through mentorship and transparent communication.
- Identify opportunities to leverage data accessibility to empower broader organizational decision-making.
- Guide the implementation of 0 to 1 product initiatives that utilize advanced data science to create new market offerings.
- Mentor junior data science leaders and contribute to the professional growth and development of the team.
- Ensure that all data practices adhere to strict ethical standards and regulatory considerations.
- Translate complex analytical results into clear narratives that inform strategic decisions at the highest levels of the company.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and methodologies to keep the organization at the forefront of AI and data science innovation.
- Coordinate with stakeholders to prioritize projects based on impact, feasibility, and resource allocation.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience leading and scaling high-output data science teams in fast-growth environments.
- 7+ years of professional experience in Analytics, Data Science, or related fields, specifically within AI tools or collaborative software.
- Demonstrated proficiency in statistical methods, forecasting, and experimentation design.
- A proven commitment to fostering an inclusive and diverse team culture through leadership and policy.
- A track record of proactive technical learning and engagement with professional growth opportunities.
- Strong ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a dynamic, fast-paced setting.
- Experience working with large datasets and complex data architectures in a production environment.
Nice to have
- Experience managing 0 to 1 product development from conception to launch.
- Background in mentoring and developing junior data science leaders and managers.
- Prior experience in the AI or collaborative software industry.
- Familiarity with design thinking principles and their application in data-driven product development.
