Technical Program Manager
Job description
Performance Leadership at Figma Figma is expanding its team of inventive designers and engineers dedicated to making design universally accessible. Our platform enables teams to transform concepts into reality, whether exploring ideas, building prototypes, converting designs into code, or leveraging AI for iteration. Figma empowers groups to optimize workflows, accelerate progress, and collaborate in real time from any location globally. If you are passionate about influencing the future of design and collaboration, consider joining us. We are seeking an AI-Native Technical Program Manager to lead performance prevention, diagnostics, and controlled deployment for both our established products and emerging AI capabilities. This platform-centric position covers desktop, browser, and mobile environments. It demands extensive expertise in performance testing (load, stress, endurance, interference), observability, and incident management. You will work closely with Product, Platform, Performance Program, and Product Support teams. Join us to maintain Figma's speed and responsiveness! This is a full-time position available in one of our US locations or remotely within the United States.
What You Will Do You will design observability strategies to monitor performance across desktop, web, and mobile platforms. You will establish testing protocols for load, stress, endurance, and interference within continuous integration workflows. You will coordinate controlled deployment plans for AI features and flagship products while managing severe incident responses. You will lead diagnostics for rendering, frame rate, memory usage, and model inference challenges. You will define performance standards for WASM, React Native, WebView, and browser environments in collaboration with partners. You will implement regression prevention through performance CI, telemetry analysis, and cross-functional performance forum engagement. You will plan customer engineering readiness and conduct enterprise load testing for large-scale deployments. You will align roadmaps by partnering with Product, Platform, Performance Program, and Support teams.
What You Should Bring You must possess over five years of experience in performance engineering, platform technical program management, or SRE, with a record of shipping performance initiatives for SaaS products. You have demonstrated capability in load, stress, and scalability testing, along with comparisons of new builds. You show deep knowledge of First Contentful Paint, Largest Contentful Paint, rendering frame rates, WASM memory management, and mobile profiling techniques. You have hands-on experience with CI/CD and test automation, integrating performance checks into pipeline processes. You understand distributed systems, AWS auto-scaling, and capacity planning for cloud infrastructure. You have direct experience with LLMs, prompt engineering, or agent platforms in production settings.
Additional Valued Experience Experience with MLOps or LLMs, including inference latency tradeoffs, batching, and caching strategies, is valued. Fluency with observability stacks such as Datadog, Sentry, and RUM is beneficial. A background as a performance engineer contributing code or test harness solutions is advantageous. History with large enterprise planning and customer load tests under realistic conditions is relevant. Familiarity with real-time collaborative systems and GPU or WASM performance constraints is also valued. At Figma, one of our core values is Grow as you go. We believe in hiring smart, curious people who are excited to learn and develop their skills. If you are excited about this role but your past experience does not align perfectly with the points outlined in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be the right candidate for this role or other opportunities.
