Software Engineer - Growth & Monetization
Job description
About the role
The role is centered on constructing the foundational systems that enable the company to scale its global revenue and user expansion initiatives. You will own the design, implementation, and daily operation of critical infrastructure that directly supports billing, enterprise access controls, product discovery mechanisms, and a wide range of monetization strategies. This position requires a full-stack engineer who is comfortable navigating complex distributed systems and making technical decisions that have a direct impact on the business. You will work closely with cross-functional partners to ensure that the technology platform is robust, secure, and capable of delivering a seamless experience for both end users and internal stakeholders. This is a full-time opportunity open to candidates based in the United States, whether they are located in our San Francisco or New York offices or working remotely.
What you'll do
Architect and maintain billing infrastructure using Ruby and Go to serve a global customer base with high reliability and performance standards.
Collaborate with data, product, and design teams to translate user behavioral signals into actionable experiment hypotheses and feature strategies that drive measurable engagement and conversion.
Implement and monitor enterprise-grade access controls and security policies, working hand-in-hand with security, design, and sales teams to protect customer data and meet compliance requirements.
Operate production systems in a live environment, taking ownership of reliability, performance tuning, and incident response to maintain user trust on a daily basis.
Convert interface concepts and design systems into production-ready code using React and TypeScript across Figma's extensive product suite and web applications.
Work alongside support and product teams to resolve complex customer challenges, using technical insights to improve support workflows and product usability.
Extend internal developer platforms and tooling through the creation of APIs and automation that enhance productivity and streamline integration options for internal teams.
Mentor engineering peers and junior staff to foster a collaborative, inclusive culture that encourages knowledge sharing and collective code ownership.
Analyze funnel metrics and user journey data to identify friction points and opportunities for optimization within the monetization and growth pipelines.
Build and maintain integrations with third-party financial and enterprise systems to ensure data consistency and accuracy across the technology stack.
Write and maintain comprehensive tests and documentation to ensure that new features are maintainable and scalable over the long term.
Participate in on-call rotations to provide technical leadership and rapid response to any production issues affecting revenue or user experience.
Contribute to the definition of technical requirements and architecture decisions for new features, ensuring alignment with long-term product and business goals.
Evaluate new technologies and frameworks, conducting proof-of-concept work to assess their viability for future growth initiatives.
Requirements
4+ years of professional software engineering experience with a record of shipping and maintaining complex systems in production environments.
Strong full-stack capabilities with modern front-end frameworks such as React and TypeScript, and back-end languages including Ruby, Python, Go, and PostgreSQL.
Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively across product, design, and sales functions without ambiguity.
A demonstrated ability to write clean, maintainable code and to refactor legacy systems to improve performance and developer experience.
Comfort with agile development processes and the capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
A strong sense of ownership for product quality and system reliability, with the initiative to identify and resolve issues before they impact users.
Valued experience and knowledge
Hands-on experience with B2B SaaS, billing and payments infrastructure, developer platforms, or enterprise-scale systems that serve large customer bases.
Familiarity with technologies such as Stripe, Salesforce, NetSuite, Snowflake, SCIM, SAML, and WebAssembly to accelerate integration and implementation efforts.
A background in experimentation, observability, compliance automation, or internal tools development to support data-driven decision making.
Experience with extensibility platforms, plugins, APIs, or open source contributions to developer communities that demonstrate technical leadership.
A passion for crafting elegant, maintainable architecture and intuitive user and developer experiences that simplify complex workflows.
Enthusiasm for mentoring, knowledge sharing, and leading initiatives that elevate the technical capabilities and performance of the team.
