Product Manager - Core Platform
Job description
Product Manager - Security & Urban Operations (Perception & Intelligence)
About the role
Make the edge see, understand, and report - before anything goes wrong. In this role, you own the detection and intelligence product line that brings real-time perception to physical field operations, turning raw sensor feeds into decisions that operators can trust. You will translate messy field reality into a prioritized, evidence-backed problem list, ensuring the loudest voice in the room is replaced by the clearest signal. Your work sits at the intersection of autonomy, edge inference, and urban operations, where every second and every alert carries real-world consequences. You will partner closely with engineering and field teams to define scope, acceptance criteria, and crisp requirements that turn vague wishes into buildable solutions. You own the customer journey end to end for security and urban-operations accounts, shaping positioning and enabling sales as the product's voice for the industry. Through disciplined intake, data-driven calibration, and platform thinking, you will ensure the product line generalizes across sites and customers instead of being rebuilt each time.
Key facts
What you'll do
Own the customer problem by running discovery with customers, field teams, and deployment engineers, and converting raw feedback into a prioritized, evidence-backed problem list rather than a wish list.
Define and sequence the roadmap by setting clear scope and acceptance criteria, replacing vague, half-finished requirements with crisp, engineering-ready ones that can be executed with confidence.
Partner with engineering day to day by leading technical discussions that turn customer constraints and field realities into the most elegant solution, not merely the first solution that comes to mind.
Run a disciplined intake process that ranks needs in strict priority order, ensuring customer feedback and field-deployment insights outrank internal or loudest stakeholder preferences.
Own go-to-market for the vertical by shaping positioning and narrative, building sales-enablement materials, and acting as the product's voice for the security and urban-operations industry with field teams and leadership.
Calibrate with data by closing the loop with usage metrics and field feedback, retiring solutions that do not land and doubling down on those that prove critical in real operations.
Build on the platform by partnering with the core platform team to ensure every solution leverages and strengthens shared infrastructure, enabling reuse and generalization to the next customer and the next site.
Define and drive the detection and intelligence product line, encompassing real-time perception and scene understanding at the edge, plus reporting and insights dashboards that turn detections into operator decisions.
Own the full customer journey for security and urban-operations accounts, aligning closely with field deployment teams to ensure solutions meet contractual, safety, and operational realities.
Translate ambiguous stakeholder requests into clear product hypotheses, validating each with field evidence before committing engineering capacity to execution.
Establish feedback loops with deployment and operations teams so that field performance data directly informs roadmap adjustments and incident response improvements.
Champion reliability and safety in product decisions, ensuring that edge inference and real-time detection meet the stringent demands of environments where property and safety are on the line.
Requirements
You bring proven product management experience spanning five or more years, including shipping SaaS or software products end to end from discovery through launch and iteration.
You have direct experience in the security or urban-operations industry, having built for, sold into, or worked hands-on with physical security, surveillance, or urban and facility operations, and you understand how these buyers evaluate, procure, and deploy solutions.
You demonstrate deep customer empathy and strong discovery skills, turning ambiguous field feedback into a clear, prioritized problem list backed by evidence and context.
You have a track record of owning scope end to end, defining it precisely, sequencing it thoughtfully, and committing to crisp requirements that engineering can execute without constant clarification.
You communicate exceptionally well, shaping a coherent go-to-market narrative and enabling a sales team to act as the product's voice for the vertical with confidence and clarity.
You operate comfortably at the edge of autonomy, perception, and intelligence, understanding how real-time systems, detection pipelines, and alerting workflows influence product outcomes in the field.
You are rigorous in prioritizing inputs, balancing customer demands, field-engineer insights, and development constraints to ensure the team is always working on the highest-value problems.
You are comfortable making decisions with incomplete information while maintaining alignment with data, field partners, and long-term product vision.
Nice to have
Robotics, autonomy, computer vision, or hardware experience is a strong plus.
Familiarity with computer vision, edge inference, or real-time detection and alerting systems supports your effectiveness in this role.
