What you'll do
- Oversee the execution of manufacturing projects to ensure they meet defined scope, budget, and timeline requirements.
- Identify potential risks early in the project lifecycle and develop effective mitigation strategies in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Manage the scheduling and distribution of work orders to manufacturing partners, ensuring that all builder orders are fulfilled on time and according to specifications.
- Address technical inquiries from manufacturing partners regarding production processes, assembly procedures, and quality standards to facilitate smooth operations.
- Evaluate and process change requests from stakeholders after sales, managing associated risks and communicating impacts clearly to all parties involved.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives within the technical project management workflow, including system enhancements and process optimizations through cross-functional projects.
- Maintain proactive communication with internal teams, manufacturing partners, and clients to ensure alignment, transparency, and timely resolution of issues.
- Monitor project progress through regular status updates, tracking key performance indicators, and preparing comprehensive reports for management and stakeholders.
- Ensure quality standards are maintained throughout the manufacturing process by collaborating with quality assurance teams and conducting necessary inspections.
- Support the development and refinement of project management tools, templates, and procedures to improve efficiency and consistency across projects.
- Coordinate with logistics teams to manage shipping schedules, customs documentation, and delivery tracking, ensuring seamless supply chain operations.
- Assist in onboarding new manufacturing partners by providing technical guidance and establishing clear communication channels.
- Contribute to the development of best practices for managing low-volume parts and prototypes, ensuring scalable and repeatable processes.
- Work closely with engineering teams to understand product specifications and translate them into manufacturing requirements.
- Participate in cross-functional meetings to align project goals with overall company objectives and strategic initiatives.
- Support compliance with ITAR regulations and other relevant standards when applicable.
- Occasionally travel (0-10%) to manufacturing sites or client locations to facilitate project coordination and quality assurance activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field, with at least 1 year of relevant experience in project management or manufacturing.
- Proven experience working with OEMs or contract manufacturers, preferably within hardware or high-mix manufacturing environments.
- Strong teamwork orientation with excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, capable of engaging with multicultural teams and stakeholders.
- Familiarity with at least three manufacturing processes such as CNC Machining, 3D Printing, Rapid Tooling, Injection Molding, Urethane Casting, or Sheet Metal Fabrication.
- Demonstrated project management skills, including scope, schedule, cost, and quality management.
- Good understanding of quality control procedures, testing protocols, and logistics management.
- Experience managing multiple stakeholders, aligning expectations, and ensuring project deliverables are met on time.
- Knowledge of low-volume parts production and prototypes, with an understanding of the challenges involved.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze technical issues and develop effective solutions.
- Results-oriented mindset with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively under tight deadlines.
- Attention to detail and proficiency in documentation, data analysis, and reporting.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently, manage time efficiently, and adapt to changing priorities.
- Persistent and adaptable, capable of producing high-quality work even in ambiguous or evolving situations.
- Appreciation for systems that are both repeatable and flexible, with a focus on improving reliability while maintaining adaptability.
- Familiarity with quality standards and regulations relevant to manufacturing, including ITAR if applicable.
