About the role
You will own the design and implementation of scalable data pipelines on Google Cloud Platform to support Fastly's edge cloud analytics. You will partner with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into reliable data products. You will define and track key performance indicators that drive business growth and inform strategic decisions. You will ensure data accuracy, governance, and discoverability across the entire analytics ecosystem. You will promote a self-service culture by building intuitive tools and educating both technical and non-technical users. You will document best practices and communicate project status, risks, and outcomes to stakeholders on a regular basis. You will contribute to an innovative, collaborative, and fast-paced environment focused on expanding our internal data platform. You will play a critical role in enabling leaders across the organization to make data-backed decisions with confidence.

What you'll do
- Collaborate with stakeholders and decision-makers to prioritize, design, and fulfill data analytics needs across the business.
- Identify key performance indicators driving business growth and partner with business teams to define and refine them for ongoing measurement.
- Design and build data products such as pipelines, data models, and analysis to enable data-driven decision-making across the organization.
- Support the evolution of our data infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform, focusing on performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Help establish trust in data by documenting analytics best practices and improving data discoverability, governance, and accuracy.
- Promote a self-service data culture by creating easy-to-use analytics products and teaching users how to leverage them effectively.
- Build and manage data transformations using tools such as dbt to ensure robust and maintainable data modeling.
- Communicate project progress, risks, and completion status clearly and consistently to all stakeholders.
- Work across the full data stack to deliver end-to-end solutions, collaborating with engineers, analysts, and product teams as needed.
- Scale ingestion processes to handle complex and high-volume data sources while maintaining quality and reliability.
- Implement monitoring and alerting for data pipelines to ensure timely detection of issues and minimal downtime.
- Optimize query performance and data structures to support faster insights and reduce computational costs.
- Partner with data platform teams to integrate new tools and enhance existing data products.
- Ensure documentation is current and reflects the design, usage, and limitations of data products and pipelines.
- Contribute to code reviews, testing, and knowledge sharing to maintain high standards across the analytics team.
Requirements
- You have 3-5 years of hands-on experience working in BI or Analytics teams in a professional setting.
- You have direct experience with cloud data warehouse technologies, with exposure to BigQuery being a significant advantage.
- You are driven by logical and analytical thinking to solve problems and have a strong eye for detail-oriented analysis and design.
- You have hands-on experience building and managing data transformations, with dbt experience being a valuable asset.
- You can craft functional, user-friendly data products such as data models and pipelines for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- You are proficient in using at least one data visualization tool such as Looker, Tableau, or Mode.
- You are a SQL power user capable of writing complex, efficient, and logical queries to support data modeling and reporting needs.
- You have a solid understanding of core business metrics in areas such as finance, sales, or other functions relevant to Fastly's operations.
- You are able to manage professional relationships with multiple stakeholders and align priorities across teams.
- You can identify, prioritize, and manage competing requirements while maintaining clear communication and expectations.
- You are collaborative by nature and willing to contribute across the entire data stack, from front-end interfaces to back-end infrastructure.
- You are comfortable working in an environment that values agility, continuous learning, and iterative improvement.
- You communicate effectively both in writing and verbally, with the ability to simplify technical concepts for diverse audiences.
- You are accountable for delivering high-quality results and meeting commitments in a reliable and transparent manner.
