About the role
Faculty is on the lookout for a seasoned Staff Product Designer to become a key member of the Frontier team. This team is dedicated to developing intelligent decision-making systems tailored for critical sectors such as life sciences. In this role, you will be instrumental in shaping the interaction between humans and AI agents, focusing on enhancing collaboration in complex clinical development scenarios. Your work will transcend conventional chat interfaces, aiming to create secure and efficient environments that foster trust and functionality.

What you'll do
- Design innovative interaction patterns that facilitate effective collaboration between human users and AI agents within decision-making frameworks.
- Transform complex analytical data into accessible formats, enabling expert users to confidently assess, question, and act upon the information presented.
- Create and uphold a cohesive design system that guarantees uniformity across products as the team expands its offerings.
- Work closely with engineering teams from the initial stages of problem identification to the final stages of product delivery, ensuring seamless integration of design and functionality.
- Establish and maintain high standards for design quality through personal contributions, constructive team critiques, and mentorship of junior designers.
- Conduct user research to gather insights that inform design decisions, ensuring that user needs are at the forefront of product development.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define project goals and align design strategies with business objectives.
- Iterate on designs based on user feedback and testing, continuously refining the user experience to meet the evolving needs of expert users.
- Advocate for user-centered design principles within the organization, promoting a culture of empathy and understanding towards end-users.
- Lead design workshops and brainstorming sessions to foster creativity and innovation within the team.
- Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to inform design practices and maintain a competitive edge.
- Document design processes and decisions to create a transparent and accessible design history for future reference.
Requirements
- Proven experience in delivering complex software solutions for expert users in high-stakes environments, demonstrating a deep understanding of user needs and challenges.
- Strong ability to manage the entire design process, from conceptual strategy to meticulous execution, ensuring alignment with project goals.
- Hands-on experience with AI technologies or non-deterministic systems, showcasing an understanding of their implications in design.
- Proficiency in prototyping using code, enabling rapid iteration and testing of design concepts.
- Excellent communication skills with a collaborative approach, prioritizing team success over individual recognition.
- A portfolio that showcases a range of design projects, particularly those that highlight your problem-solving abilities and design thinking process.
