About the role
The will act as a strategic and operational extension of the leadership team, embedding directly into functional leader groups to drive execution and people excellence. You will own the end-to-end people lifecycle for your assigned client groups, ensuring that organizational design, talent deployment, and performance management are aligned with the company's ambitious growth objectives. This is a foundational role where you will not only apply existing HR practices but also actively design and codify the HRBP operating system that will scale with the organization. You will leverage data and human insight in equal measure to identify risks, coach leaders, and build a high-trust, high-performance culture from the ground up. By deeply integrating with product and engineering workflows, you will help ensure that people strategies are as automated, reliable, and intelligent as the software Factory builds.

What you'll do
Own the end-to-end talent management lifecycle for your client groups, from headcount planning and interviewing to onboarding and offboarding.
Build and maintain precise workforce data systems, ensuring integrity and accuracy of org design, headcount, and performance metrics.
Partner with functional leaders to design and implement durable frameworks for org design, performance calibration, and compensation cycles.
Act as the primary advisor on employee relations, using judgment to distinguish coaching moments, policy issues, and escalations.
Champion the use of AI and automation tools in daily HR operations, testing and demonstrating Factory's own product as a core work method.
Coach managers and leaders on feedback, performance management, and people leadership to foster a culture of radical transparency and accountability.
Analyze workforce metrics such as attrition, span of control, and performance distribution to proactively identify and mitigate organizational risk.
Contribute strategically to Learning & Development, People Programs, and Total Rewards initiatives, ensuring alignment with company goals.
Run calibration sessions and comp cycles with precision, ensuring consistency, fairness, and clear communication across teams.
Operate at both strategic and tactical levels, building long-term systems while simultaneously managing the day-to-day demands of a hyper-growth environment.
Collaborate closely with Finance to align headcount plans and compensation strategies with business objectives and constraints.
Drive continuous improvement in HR processes by documenting playbooks and standardizing practices for scale and efficiency.
Serve as a credible and trusted partner to C-level executives, translating people data into actionable insights and decisions.
Enable high-performing teams by removing operational blockers and aligning people programs with product and engineering delivery cycles.
Requirements
Bring 8+ years of progressive HR experience, with a proven track record as an HRBP or People Partner in fast-paced, high-growth technology companies.
Demonstrate strong business acumen, with the ability to understand how the company makes money and how key strategic decisions are made and executed.
Show a history of root-cause analysis and problem-solving, preferring to build new solutions rather than rely on existing policies.
Exhibit a genuine employee-first mindset, designing systems and experiences that reflect care for the people who use them.
Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build deep trust and credibility at all levels of the organization.
Be comfortable operating comfortably in both strategic initiatives and hands-on execution within a fast-changing, dynamic environment.
Have direct experience partnering with Finance on headcount planning, compensation strategy, and budget management.
Maintain strict confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive employee data and organizational initiatives.
Nice to have
Experience implementing performance management and career ladder frameworks in high-growth environments.
Background working with AI-native tools and a curiosity about how technology can enhance the employee experience.
Practical notes
This role is based in San Francisco and requires in-office presence.
