Middle FPV QA Engineer
Job description
Middle FPV QA Engineer at Breezy.
About the role
Join a dedicated R&D team focused on enhancing proven MilTech products. This role offers the chance to contribute to existing solutions, test new concepts, and see your work validated and scaled across numerous deployments. You will partner with engineering to ensure that flight control and video transmission systems meet rigorous quality standards before field use. The position emphasizes disciplined testing practices within fast iteration cycles common to defense technology. You will help translate complex system requirements into concrete test procedures that validate real world performance. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on turning technical specifications into reliable test frameworks. Your work will directly influence the stability and safety of critical aerial platforms used in demanding environments. By challenging assumptions in controlled tests, you support the team in reducing integration risks early.
Key facts
What you'll do
Analyze testing requirements for video streaming devices, flight controllers, and associated test infrastructure to ensure coverage of functional and non functional criteria.
Create and evolve testing documentation, including detailed checklists, traceable test cases, and reusable procedures that can be executed by peers.
Operate drones in controlled office simulations and open air testing grounds to observe flight dynamics, video latency, and link reliability under varied conditions.
Capture, record, and classify deviations, then coordinate with developers to resolve issues and verify fixes through regression testing.
Establish baseline performance metrics for signal strength, image quality, and control responsiveness to support comparative analysis.
Maintain versioned test assets and configuration notes so that test activities remain reproducible as hardware and firmware evolve.
Collaborate with cross functional stakeholders to refine acceptance criteria and align test plans with product roadmaps and compliance needs.
Design experiment matrices that isolate variables such as antenna placement, environmental interference, and power states to understand system behavior.
Monitor test execution trends and compile clear status reports that highlight risks, progress, and areas requiring process improvement.
Champion continuous improvement by proposing updates to test methods, tools, and environments based on lessons learned from previous cycles.
Support the integration of new hardware platforms by defining entry test criteria and validating that they meet predefined quality gates.
Leverage domain knowledge of physics and electronics to build test scenarios that reflect realistic operational stresses and failure modes.
Document root causes for critical defects using structured formats that enable effective knowledge sharing and future prevention.
Assist in validating third party components, such as sensors or communication modules, to ensure compatibility with the overall system architecture.
Promote safety and reliability culture by ensuring that test evidence is thorough, traceable, and available for audit or review purposes.
Requirements
Solid understanding of the Software Testing Life Cycle and Software Development Life Cycle with practical application in real projects.
Experience in writing test documentation, clearly recording test outcomes, and detailing identified issues in a structured manner.
Proficiency in Linux as a user, including terminal navigation, file system interaction, and analysis of system and application logs.
Fundamental knowledge of electronics, physics, and circuit design principles relevant to sensor inputs, power systems, and communication links.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a fast paced setting, taking ownership of assigned tasks and seeing them through to completion.
Strong attention to detail and methodical approach when conducting tests, reproducing issues, and verifying fixes.
Effective written and verbal communication skills to coordinate with technical and non technical stakeholders.
Capacity to manage multiple priorities, adapt to changing requirements, and maintain focus on long term quality goals.
Commitment to following established processes while also suggesting pragmatic improvements where they enhance efficiency.
Reliability in meeting deadlines and delivering test artifacts that are clear, complete, and ready for review.
Nice to have
Experience operating multi rotor unmanned aerial vehicles in manual or assisted modes.
Hands on experience with single board computers used in embedded or field test scenarios.
Possession of a Category B driver's license for roles that may require travel to test sites or hardware logistics support.
