About the role
Everstar is currently seeking a Middle Software Engineer to become part of their growing and collaborative engineering organization. This role centers on building and sustaining software systems that directly support the company's core products and internal operational workflows. The successful candidate will work within a fully remote team, contributing meaningful work across all stages of the software development lifecycle. As a mid-level engineer, this position calls for self-direction, genuine technical curiosity, and the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly to both technical peers and non-technical stakeholders across the organization and contribute to a positive team culture.

What you'll do
- Design and develop software applications that align with broader business objectives, stakeholder needs, and specific end-user requirements.
- Write clean, well-structured, and maintainable code that consistently follows the team's established coding standards and conventions.
- Participate actively in code review sessions to uphold overall quality and share valuable technical knowledge with peers.
- Collaborate closely with product managers and designers to turn feature requests and user feedback into concrete technical plans.
- Identify, debug, and resolve software defects efficiently while maintaining minimal disruption to ongoing development work and releases.
- Contribute meaningfully to architectural discussions that influence the long-term structure, reliability, and scalability of the product.
- Create and sustain comprehensive automated test suites that verify functionality and help prevent future regressions in production.
- Produce clear and thorough technical documentation covering system designs, operational runbooks, and day-to-day development workflows.
- Attend daily standups and sprint ceremonies to track progress, surface blockers early, and coordinate effectively with teammates.
- Guide and support junior engineers by sharing best practices, reviewing their pull requests constructively, and fostering a positive team culture.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends, evaluating their potential applicability to the company's product roadmap.
Requirements
- A solid background in software engineering with demonstrated ability to deliver working software independently, on schedule, and to a high standard.
- Strong proficiency in at least one general-purpose programming language commonly used for building modern web or distributed applications.
- Hands-on experience with version control systems and participating in collaborative team-based development processes within a professional setting.
- Proven ability to manage your own schedule, set priorities, and maintain consistent productivity in a distributed remote environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills suited for asynchronous collaboration across different time zones and cultural contexts.
- Working knowledge of database systems, including designing data schemas and writing queries to efficiently store and retrieve information.
- A bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related technical discipline from an accredited institution.
- A genuine willingness to learn new technologies quickly and adapt to shifting project priorities with flexibility and grace.
- Experience with agile or iterative development methodologies and a comfort with rapid iteration and continuous improvement.

- Prior exposure to cloud computing platforms and the process of deploying applications to live production environments reliably.
- Familiarity with containerization technologies and orchestration frameworks used to manage scalable, resilient, and highly available application infrastructure.

- Understanding of application monitoring, logging, and observability practices that support maintaining reliable and performant services in production.
