Ethos Life is on the lookout for an experienced product designer who will play a pivotal role in shaping our innovative offerings. In this position, you will be instrumental in both the creation of new products and the enhancement of our existing services. Your leadership in design strategy and execution within the Partnerships team will be crucial for driving our business growth and expanding our reach.

What you'll do

• Direct the design strategy across various product domains to ensure a cohesive user experience.
• Define and articulate the vision for the overall user journey, ensuring it aligns with our business objectives.
• Develop new products while also refining and enhancing our current offerings to meet user needs effectively.
• Balance the execution of smaller projects with larger initiatives that significantly enhance the product's value.
• Collaborate with executive stakeholders from diverse departments, including engineering, marketing, and product management, to align on goals and strategies.
• Streamline the product development process by working closely with cross-functional teams to foster collaboration and efficiency.
• If you are at the Principal level, you will have the opportunity to mentor and guide junior designers, fostering their growth and development.
• Engage in the transition towards an AI-enhanced product development model, exploring innovative ways to integrate technology into our design processes.

Requirements

• A minimum of 7 years of experience in Product Design is required, with 10 years necessary for candidates at the Principal level.
• At least 2 years of your career should have been spent in a venture-backed, private startup environment.
• For those applying at the Principal level, you should have a minimum of 2 years of experience influencing the work of others through direct or indirect leadership.
• The majority of your professional experience should involve working in-house on direct-to-consumer products.
• Proven experience in a dynamic, experiment-driven setting is essential.
• You should possess the ability to discern when to apply the complete design process and when to streamline it, consistently achieving outstanding results.
• A clear ability to articulate the rationale behind design decisions, showcasing intentionality and thorough thought processes is necessary.
• Demonstrated capability to measure the impact of your design work on business outcomes is crucial.
• A strong portfolio that highlights your ability to execute quickly, produce high-quality work, and showcase interaction details, storytelling, visual design, and content design is required.
• A history of enhancing design practices within previous teams you have been part of is highly desirable.
• Experience leading projects from the initial discovery phase through problem definition, ideation, validation, and engineering implementation is essential.
• You should have experience launching completely new products, rather than merely iterating on existing ones.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with AI tools and their application in product design would be beneficial.
• Experience with data analytics tools to assess user engagement and product performance is a plus.
• Knowledge of accessibility standards and best practices in design is advantageous.
• Previous experience in the insurance or fintech sectors would be a significant asset.
• A background in user research and usability testing methodologies is desirable.

Skills & tools

• Proficiency in product design methodologies and tools, including but not limited to Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, and prototyping tools.
• Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and practices.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and experience working in Agile teams.
• Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
• Ability to create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs that align with user needs and business goals.

Practical notes

• This position is hybrid, allowing for a blend of remote and in-office work. Candidates should be prepared to work collaboratively with the team in our Bangalore office while also having the flexibility to work from home.
