Lead Business Analyst
Job description
About the role
This position transforms sales data and workflows into decisions that drive revenue for Sales Strategy & Operations. It owns analytics, process optimization, and systems across the customer journey.
Analysts turn data into clear answers. They pull numbers, clean data, build dashboards, and explain what changed and why. The work supports decisions across sales, product, marketing, and operations. Strong analysts pair technical skill with business curiosity. Analysts are the bridge between data and decisions. Most analysts own recurring reports and are expected to improve them over time.
Key facts
What you'll do
Reporting across the marketing-to-sales funnel is owned to track leading, in-process, and lagging indicators for sales performance. Models for compensation plans, headcount requirements, and other business-critical inputs are built through collaboration with Sales and Finance. Day-to-day workflows integrate SQL, dashboards, and qualitative feedback to inform decision making.
Requirements
Four or more years in Data Analytics, Revenue Operations, or a closely related analytical role in B2C or high-velocity phone sales is required. SQL queries answer open-ended business questions across large datasets beyond predefined reports. Hands-on experience with dashboarding and analytics tools such as Salesforce, Mode, Amplitude, and Hex is used. Familiarity with sales tech stack tools like Regal, Balto, or comparable dialer and QA platforms is a plus. Work is scoped independently, clarifying questions are asked early, and execution starts without waiting for a fully defined spec. Strong English communication skills are demonstrated both in writing and verbally. Data accuracy is treated as a critical priority, where errors are treated as urgent issues. Night shift availability in the Bangalore office aligns with US-based sales teams from 3:00 PM to 12:00 AM IST.
Nice to have
A Master of Business Administration is preferred. Experience in insurance, fintech, or other licensed sales environments is valued. Exposure to compensation modeling, quota design, or headcount planning workflows is a plus.
Practical notes
US work authorization may be required for some candidates. Typical interview steps
Analyst interviews often include a SQL or spreadsheet exercise, a case question, and behavioral rounds. Candidates may be asked to analyze a dataset, define a metric, or estimate an outcome. Presenting findings clearly is tested as often as the analysis itself. Interviewers often test speed and clarity with a timed exercise. Explaining what the numbers mean, not just what they are, is the differentiator.
Good to know
Analytics roles in technology often use SQL and modern dashboarding tools to turn data into decisions. Night shifts enable global sales operations across time zones. Insurance technology companies blend regulated sales practices with data-driven experimentation. Clear communication and data accuracy are essential in fast-paced revenue environments.
Questions to ask
Worth asking in any interview: how the team measures success, who the role works with daily, what the onboarding looks like, and what the company is trying to achieve this year. Asking what past hires did well is a strong final question. Keep the list short and pick the questions that matter most to you.
Career growth
Analyst careers can grow into senior analyst, analytics manager, or data science roles. Some analysts move into product or business operations. Deeper technical skills or broader business ownership are the two main paths. Analyst roles are a common on-ramp into product, marketing, or operations leadership. Building deep domain knowledge alongside analytics is the fastest path.
