Key facts
What you'll do
- Collaborate with project managers and other engineers to design and develop land use plans that meet regulatory requirements and project specifications.
- Conduct site assessments and feasibility studies to evaluate land development potential and identify any potential challenges.
- Prepare detailed engineering drawings, plans, and specifications for various land development projects, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Coordinate with surveyors, architects, and environmental specialists to integrate their input into project designs and ensure a holistic approach to development.
- Manage the permitting process by preparing and submitting necessary documentation to regulatory agencies, and liaising with officials to facilitate approvals.
- Oversee construction activities on-site to ensure adherence to design specifications, timelines, and budget constraints.
- Utilize advanced software tools for modeling and analysis, including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other relevant engineering applications.
- Conduct site inspections and assessments to monitor progress, identify issues, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Prepare reports and presentations for stakeholders, summarizing project status, challenges, and solutions to keep all parties informed.
- Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices to continuously improve project outcomes and operational efficiency.
- Mentor junior engineers and interns, providing guidance and support to foster their professional development.
- Participate in community outreach and public meetings to communicate project goals and gather feedback from local stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in land development engineering or a similar role.
- Proficiency in engineering design software, particularly AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
- Strong understanding of local zoning laws, land use regulations, and environmental compliance requirements.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically under pressure.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
Nice to have
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in New Jersey or the ability to obtain one within a specified timeframe.
- Experience with project management software and tools.
- Familiarity with sustainable design practices and green building standards.
- Knowledge of GIS (Geographic Information Systems) for site analysis and planning.
- Previous experience in community engagement and public relations related to land development projects.
