5G Core System Engineering Lead
Job description
About the role
E-Space invites professionals ready to redefine the boundaries of global connectivity. Our mission is to make connectivity from space universally accessible, secure, and actionable. We are constructing a sophisticated low Earth orbit (LEO) space system designed to revolutionize the design, economics, manufacturing, and service delivery of Internet of Things (IoT) solutions. This system is intended to deliver actionable intelligence that expands global economies, protects our planet and space, and enhances the overall quality of life. We seek a Senior SW Integration & Test Engineer - 5G Core to lead critical verification efforts. In this role, you will be responsible for the integration and testing of 5G Core Network products. Your extensive experience, spanning over eight years in testing wireless communications and networking products, will be essential. You will ensure the quality and reliability of our systems through rigorous validation processes. This position reports directly to the Director
Quality Assurance. You will collaborate closely with Software, Hardware, and Platform Engineering teams. The role is based within our Arlington, TX office.
What you'll do
- Architect and oversee the end-to-end integration test strategy for the 5G core space system, owning accountability from initial intake to partner-aligned delivery.
- Design and curate traceable validation protocols that convert mission objectives into rigorous test cases suitable for orbital communications environments.
- Build and maintain automated build pipelines capable of assembling software, firmware, and hardware artifacts for LEO protocol testing and regression suites.
- Lead cross-disciplinary collaboration sessions, working directly with Software, Hardware, and Platform Engineering teams to resolve integration risks early.
- Instrument and manage test environments that simulate realistic traffic patterns across all 5G core network components, ensuring coverage of orbital use cases.
- Orchestrate review routines where metrics, logs, and traces are meticulously examined to identify and resolve anomalies before release.
- Coordinate validation activities focused on timing, security, and throughput, aligning ship-based test campaigns with established orbital benchmarks.
- Establish and maintain partner workflows that synchronize ground stations, user terminals, and network slices, ensuring interoperability across the constellation.
- Translate regulatory and compliance constraints into actionable checklists, driving verification efforts and audit readiness for global deployments.
- Meticulously document outcomes, anomalies, and decisions, creating reusable configurations and methodologies for future campaign efficiency.
- Drive methodical improvement initiatives that ensure every system release meets stringent quality gates specific to space communications.
- Serve as the primary verification owner, escalating critical issues and guiding resolution to maintain schedule and quality commitments.
Requirements
- Must bring a minimum of eight years of focused experience testing wireless communications and networking products in demanding environments.
- Must demonstrate proven expertise with 5G core network products, including protocol stacks, interfaces, and service assurance mechanisms.
- Must possess hands-on familiarity with system integration and test methodologies, including test automation and result analysis.
- Must have professional experience working within Arlington, TX, or similar satellite-focused facilities where regulatory and operational constraints are actively managed.
- Must be capable of interpreting complex technical specifications and translating them into executable validation plans.
- Must exhibit strong problem-solving skills to isolate root causes and verify fixes in distributed, networked systems.
- Must communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, documenting decisions and rationale with precision and clarity.
- Must adhere to strict quality standards and follow procedures to ensure traceability and compliance throughout the verification lifecycle.
