About the role
You will own the CIAM roadmap for Canadian customers and ensure strategy aligns with regulation and market changes. You will convert complex banking requirements into robust identity capabilities that function securely across all channels and institutions. Your work will establish governance rules to ensure customer data compliance and consistent access policies. You will provide architectural leadership and technical oversight to guide customer identity solutions effectively. This role requires deep technical understanding to assess solution designs and make platform-level decisions. You will not be involved in hands-on engineering but will focus on strategy, prioritization, and governance. High-risk issues and major platform choices are escalated to IAM and Cyber leadership for review.

What you'll do
Design intake workflows for identity projects, clarifying requirements before development starts to prevent downstream issues.
Establish governance rules to ensure customer data compliance and consistent access policies across platforms and business units.
Create identity blueprints that integrate with current systems and support future banking initiatives without disrupting operations.
Assess solution designs, balancing security, scalability, and regulatory compliance to meet institutional risk thresholds.
Coordinate reviews with security and compliance teams to validate controls prior to deployment and reduce potential vulnerabilities.
Guide platform-level decisions, explaining technical options in terms of business risk and opportunity to enable informed leadership choices.
Maintain alignment with partners using shared documentation and clear updates on identity programs to ensure transparency.
Deploy identity features incrementally, allowing teams to release safely while adhering to strict timelines and quality standards.
Support ongoing optimization, using feedback to refine identity services over time and improve user satisfaction.
Promote industry trends to influence long-term identity strategy for EQ and keep the organization ahead of market expectations.
Evaluate emerging identity protocols and standards to ensure the architecture remains current and resilient against evolving threats.
Champion scalable identity capabilities that adapt to new business needs while preserving security and compliance foundations.
Collaborate with digital, product, and technology teams to translate customer and organizational needs into actionable identity solutions.
Act as a strategic advisor, helping stakeholders understand the implications of identity decisions on risk, compliance, and innovation.
Requirements
You must possess five years of experience in identity and access management to demonstrate a solid foundation in the field.
You must understand modern identity platforms, protocols, and standards relevant to financial services to design appropriate solutions.
You must be able to interpret regulations and ensure identity solutions remain compliant with applicable legal requirements.
You must communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders across the organization to foster collaboration.
You must evaluate technical approaches and recommend solutions that balance risk, cost, and delivery speed for optimal outcomes.
You must have the ability to analyze complex identity problems and propose structured, scalable, and secure architectures.
You must be comfortable working within highly regulated environments where compliance and auditability are critical.
You must demonstrate strong judgment in making platform-level decisions that impact the security and direction of identity programs.
Nice to have
Experience in banking, credit unions, or highly regulated settings is preferred for better contextual understanding.
