You will support the Special Loans team in managing and overseeing a portfolio of delinquent and problem commercial accounts. Key facts
What you'll do
Investigate and analyze commercial portfolio performance to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
Prepare comprehensive reports and documentation required for portfolio oversight and senior management decision-making.
Monitor account activity and portfolio health to ensure accurate and timely recognition of potential issues.
Coordinate and attend meetings with internal teams and external partners to discuss account status and resolution strategies.
Execute loan collections processes and enforce actions related to borrower breaches and non-compliance.
Manage maturing mortgages and accounts with past due taxes to mitigate risk and ensure regulatory compliance.
Communicate directly with clients regarding arrears and complex account issues to gather information and negotiate solutions.
Support Associate Directors in daily portfolio management tasks and ad hoc projects as required by evolving business needs.
Collaborate with Commercial underwriting, originations, funders, Mortgage Services, Accounting, Finance, legal, and other internal departments.
Assist in networking with external business partners to strengthen relationships and improve commercial lending outcomes.
Perform pipeline management activities to ensure accurate tracking and resolution of distressed commercial accounts.
Handle ad hoc requests and reporting requirements that support strategic initiatives and senior leadership priorities.
Maintain detailed records of all interactions and decisions to ensure transparency and audit readiness.
Contribute to the execution of planned strategies by providing reliable data analysis and operational support.
Demonstrate adaptability in managing multiple priorities within a fast-paced and dynamic commercial banking environment.
Requirements
You must possess a Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
You must have a minimum of one year of relevant experience in commercial banking, credit risk, or a related field.
You must demonstrate strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and email platforms.
You must have excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
You must be able to work independently and as part of a collaborative team in a complex banking environment.
You must be comfortable managing confidential and sensitive financial information with integrity.
You must be legally entitled to work in Canada without sponsorship requirements.
You must be available to work in the Toronto office on a full-time basis during standard business hours.
Nice to have
Experience in loan collections, default management, or restructuring within a commercial banking context.
Knowledge of commercial lending products and associated regulatory requirements.
Familiarity with credit risk assessment and portfolio monitoring tools.
Understanding of mortgage administration and maturing obligations.
Experience working with internal audit or compliance processes.
