What you'll do
- Conduct thorough inspections of construction sites, facilities, and operations to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
- Prepare detailed reports summarizing inspection findings, including any violations or areas of concern, and recommend corrective actions.
- Collaborate with project managers and engineers to develop and implement environmental management plans tailored to specific projects.
- Monitor and assess environmental impacts related to construction activities, including air and water quality, waste management, and habitat preservation.
- Provide training and guidance to staff and contractors on environmental compliance and best practices to foster a culture of environmental stewardship.
- Stay updated on changes in environmental legislation and industry standards to ensure ongoing compliance and best practices are maintained.
- Participate in environmental audits and assessments, contributing to the development of strategies for continuous improvement in environmental performance.
- Engage with regulatory agencies and stakeholders to address environmental concerns and promote transparency in compliance efforts.
- Assist in the preparation of permit applications and documentation required for environmental compliance.
- Conduct field sampling and testing of soil, water, and air to assess environmental conditions and compliance with established standards.
- Evaluate and analyze data collected during inspections and assessments to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Support the development of sustainability initiatives and programs aimed at reducing the environmental footprint of projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in environmental inspection or compliance, preferably within the construction or industrial sectors.
- Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, including the Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, and other relevant legislation.
- Proven ability to conduct inspections and assessments, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis, with experience using environmental monitoring tools and software.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating strong organizational and time management skills.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to various project sites as needed.
- Certification as an Environmental Inspector or similar credential is a plus.
