Chief of Staff (AI-Native)
Job description
Chief of Staff (AI-Native) at Embedding Vc.
About the role
The Chief of Staff (AI-Native) at Embedding Vc operates at the critical junction where venture operations meet the deliberate construction of a studio environment. This position is designed for an AI-native operator who instinctively reaches for artificial intelligence to handle execution, analysis, and delivery across complex workflows. The role provides direct support to the founding team while owning the connective tissue between investment origination, community orchestration, and company incubation initiatives. You will be responsible for shaping narratives that translate technical vision into compelling stories for investors, partners, and operators. Success in this position is defined by the ability to remove friction from team workflows, accelerate decision cycles through tooling, and ensure consistent follow-through on commitments. The ideal candidate treats AI not as a novelty but as a core collaborator in research, communication, and process design. You will own the invisible machinery that allows the fund and its sister studio to operate with clarity and velocity.
Key facts
What you'll do
Orchestrate community-facing narratives and external content, crafting messages distributed through channels like social posts and the Weekly Launch Hour to ensure investors and partners receive clear, consistent updates.
Design and maintain operational playbooks that standardize vendor management, intake processes, and workflow design to resolve operational gaps before they escalate into critical questions.
Leverage AI-native methodologies to support investment workflows, from initial sourcing to due diligence, creating systems that automate repetitive analysis and synthesize large volumes of data.
Act as the central coordination point for the studio, aligning schedules, resources, and dependencies so that company-building programs move forward without unnecessary bottlenecking.
Translate complex technical concepts and research findings into accessible language for both technical and non-technical stakeholders, maintaining the accuracy of the substance while adjusting the tone for the audience.
Build and maintain a visible pulse on the AI landscape, synthesizing trends, tooling updates, and competitive moves into concise briefings that keep the leadership team strategically informed.
Own the creation of high-leverage internal tools and automation scripts that reduce manual overhead and allow founders and operators to focus on high-value creative work.
Partner with the recruiting and people operations functions to design onboarding experiences and documentation that help new hires ramp quickly and understand the unique culture of AI-native execution.
Champion a culture of rigorous experimentation within the fund and studio, documenting outcomes from rapid tests and codifying learnings into reusable frameworks for future initiatives.
Provide executive-level support by preparing materials for board updates, investor meetings, and strategic reviews, ensuring that every narrative is backed by data and aligned with the firm's operating principles.
Oversee the end-to-end delivery of company-building programs, from curriculum design and mentor coordination to cohort logistics and post-program alumni engagement.
Maintain a detailed operational memory by updating systems, playbooks, and wikis to reflect decisions, changes, and rationales, ensuring continuity and reducing single points of failure.
Requirements
The posting states a bachelor's degree requirement. You bring 1 to 3 years of experience from startups, VC, consulting, studio environments, or fast-moving operating roles that have exposed you to ambiguous problems and rapid iteration.
You use AI tools daily and treat them as default instruments for building and automating workflows, demonstrating fluency across at least several core categories of AI applications.
You produce clear, human-voice content for external audiences and stakeholders, ensuring that emails, posts, and narratives retain personality and precision.
You handle both strategic initiatives and unglamorous tasks with a low-ego, organized mindset, moving seamlessly between high-level strategy and detailed follow-up.
You engage deeply with the AI landscape and can discuss trends, model capabilities, and deployment challenges on equal footing with founders and researchers.
You respect the constraints of time and resources, making decisions that prioritize leverage and impact while maintaining a bias toward action.
You communicate with precision and empathy, adapting your style to engineers, operators, and executives without losing clarity or substance.
Nice to have
Hands-on experience in venture capital, a startup studio, or an early-stage startup sharpens context for the work and deepens your understanding of founder needs.
A visible portfolio of AI-built internal tools, content, and automation projects demonstrates practical fluency and a track record of tool-driven execution.
Practical notes
The culture favors builders who reach for AI tools by default.
Typical interview steps
Leadership hiring usually includes a strategy case, a people scenario, and a values conversation. Candidates may be asked to turn around a struggling team or plan for growth. Past results are examined closely, especially how decisions were made. Interviewers dig into specific decisions you made and their consequences. Preparing two or three decision stories with numbers and lessons is the best use of time.
Good to know
AI-native roles emphasize tool-driven execution across fund and studio workflows. Automation and rapid experimentation are common in early-stage technology ventures. Narrative clarity and operational rigor shape impact in this environment.
Questions to ask
Useful questions for the interview: what a typical week looks like, how work is assigned, what tools the team uses, and how feedback works. Asking how the role has changed recently and what the team wishes it had known when joining is also reasonable. Questions about the manager's priorities are especially valued.
Career growth
Leadership careers move from manager to senior manager, director, and executive roles. Each step adds more scope and more responsibility for outcomes. The best leaders keep learning how to delegate, communicate, and decide. Leadership careers reward a record of building and developing people. The higher you go, the more your communication shapes the whole organization.
