Paid Social Analyst
Job description
About the role
This role supports the Digital Marketing Team in executing and optimizing paid social campaigns using data-driven decisions. The position focuses on end-to-end campaign management and performance analysis for Elastic's global audience. It operates within a distributed team environment that values diverse perspectives and work-life balance.
Analysts turn data into clear answers. They pull numbers, clean data, build dashboards, and explain what changed and why. The work supports decisions across sales, product, marketing, and operations. Strong analysts pair technical skill with business curiosity. Analysts are the bridge between data and decisions. Most analysts own recurring reports and are expected to improve them over time.
Key facts
What you'll do
Daily paid social campaign management, including audience targeting, creative coordination, and ROI optimization aligns campaign execution with global stakeholder goals.
Campaign setup, tracking, pixel implementation, and platform issue resolution maintain measurement accuracy and delivery integrity.
Self-managed prioritization and handling of a high volume of deliverables sustains performance under dynamic conditions while preserving strict attention to detail.
Requirements
BA or BS degree or equivalent experience with a strong quantitative background is required for this role.
At least two years of experience in digital marketing or a related field with knowledge of LinkedIn, Meta, Pinterest, TikTok, or similar advertising technologies is necessary.
Advanced proficiency in Google Suite, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs, enables effective handling of large datasets.
A strong foundation in data analysis, performance reporting, audience targeting, and creative asset coordination is essential for success.
Nice to have
Robust critical thinking skills evaluate campaign performance and solve complex problems objectively.
Clear verbal and written communication skills explain technical data insights to non-technical team members and stakeholders.
Thriving under pressure as a self-motivated, organized teammate who consistently exceeds objectives.
Juggling multiple shifting priorities while maintaining detail orientation across evolving tasks.
Practical notes
Elastic is a distributed company where diversity drives identity and flexibility supports work-life balance. Employment eligibility follows regional regulations and policies.
Typical interview steps
Analyst interviews often include a SQL or spreadsheet exercise, a case question, and behavioral rounds. Candidates may be asked to analyze a dataset, define a metric, or estimate an outcome. Presenting findings clearly is tested as often as the analysis itself. Interviewers often test speed and clarity with a timed exercise. Explaining what the numbers mean, not just what they are, is the differentiator.
Good to know
Roles in data-driven marketing benefit from strong analytical skills and comfort with quantitative datasets.
Familiarity with advertising platforms enables faster campaign execution and optimization.
Clear communication supports collaboration across globally distributed teams.
Attention to detail reduces errors and improves reporting accuracy.
Continuous learning keeps methods and platform strategies up to date.
Questions to ask
Useful questions for the interview: what a typical week looks like, how work is assigned, what tools the team uses, and how feedback works. Asking how the role has changed recently and what the team wishes it had known when joining is also reasonable. Questions about the manager's priorities are especially valued.
Career growth
Analyst careers can grow into senior analyst, analytics manager, or data science roles. Some analysts move into product or business operations. Deeper technical skills or broader business ownership are the two main paths. Analyst roles are a common on-ramp into product, marketing, or operations leadership. Building deep domain knowledge alongside analytics is the fastest path.
