About the role
The is a critical position embedded within the Lantern team, which drives the core security experiences used by analysts on a daily basis. This role focuses on enabling security professionals to rapidly understand complex events, review supporting evidence, and confidently determine the appropriate next steps during active investigations. The hire will be instrumental in developing AI-guided capabilities designed to accelerate analyst workflows while ensuring that human judgment remains central to the decision-making process. Success in this role requires a balance of technical depth and user empathy to build tools that are both powerful and intuitive under pressure. This is a full-time, on-site position based in the United States with a compensation package that includes a base salary of $190,000 and a total on-target compensation of $220,000.

What you'll do
Design and implement secure, accessible, and high-performance investigation workflows within the Kibana platform based on direct input from security analysts.
Deconstruct ambiguous and complex security problems into clear, testable specifications and translate them into reliable software solutions.
Own small-to-medium sized initiatives end-to-end, from initial technical design and scoping through implementation, verification, and deployment into production environments.
Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and cross-functional engineering teams to refine user interactions, flows, and the overall experience of security investigations.
Integrate AI-assisted features in a manner that enhances analyst speed and efficiency while preserving explicit control and contextual awareness for the user.
Ship features incrementally to production, gathering real-world usage data and user feedback to validate impact and guide subsequent iterations.
Work across distributed time zones, coordinating effectively via GitHub, Slack, design reviews, and rigorous code reviews to maintain high standards of quality.
Define and maintain clear requirements and architecture for end-to-end investigation flows in Kibana, ensuring alignment with broader product objectives and security principles.
Review implementation details and code contributions to ensure consistency with performance, security, and usability standards.
Adapt to evolving priorities and feedback from stakeholders, iterating on designs and implementations to improve the reliability and clarity of the investigative experience.
Requirements
Bring 3-5 years of professional experience building software products in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Demonstrate the ability to take ambiguous problems, break them down systematically, and deliver robust, production-grade solutions.
Communicate effectively through written messages, code reviews, and live discussions with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Understand fundamental concepts in distributed systems and secure application design to make informed architectural decisions.
Work comfortably with product managers, designers, and cross-functional collaborators to align on goals and resolve dependencies.
Maintain a strong commitment to writing testable, maintainable, and performant code that can be understood and extended by others.
Approach security investigations with a mindset focused on clarity, precision, and reliability, recognizing the high stakes of the work.
Be comfortable navigating complex codebases and tooling, including the Elastic Stack and Kibana, to implement changes efficiently.
Nice to have
Prior professional experience with security platforms, alert data schemas, and investigation tooling in similar roles.
Hands-on familiarity with the Elastic Stack and Kibana for building or extending security-related features.
Experience implementing user-facing features using JavaScript, React, Node, and Python in production environments.
