What you'll do
- Develop and implement comprehensive safety programs that align with industry standards and regulatory requirements, ensuring a safe working environment for all employees.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions to mitigate risks.
- Collaborate with management and employees to promote safety awareness and ensure adherence to safety protocols and procedures.
- Lead safety training sessions and workshops to educate employees on best practices and emergency response procedures.
- Investigate workplace incidents and accidents, documenting findings and implementing measures to prevent future occurrences.
- Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training sessions, and incident reports, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for safety-related inquiries and concerns, providing guidance and support to employees and management.
- Monitor and analyze safety performance metrics, preparing reports and presentations for senior management to highlight trends and areas for improvement.
- Stay up-to-date with changes in safety regulations and industry standards, making necessary adjustments to safety programs as required.
- Collaborate with external agencies and organizations to enhance safety initiatives and share best practices within the industry.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging employee feedback and participation in safety initiatives.
- Develop emergency response plans and conduct drills to ensure preparedness for various scenarios, including natural disasters and workplace emergencies.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in safety management or a related role, preferably in a regional or multi-site environment.
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and other safety standards applicable to the industry.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing successful safety programs and initiatives.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess risks and develop effective mitigation strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Certification in safety management (e.g., CSP, CIH, or equivalent) is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in safety management software and tools for tracking and reporting safety metrics.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Nice to have
- Experience in the construction or manufacturing industry is a plus.
- Familiarity with environmental safety regulations and sustainability practices.
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is advantageous for effective communication with a diverse workforce.
- Previous experience in emergency response planning and execution.
