What you'll do
- Lead and coordinate engineering projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, construction, and quality assurance, to ensure project specifications are met.
- Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and risk management strategies.
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, address any issues, and ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards.
- Prepare and present project updates to stakeholders, including clients and senior management, to keep them informed of progress and any potential challenges.
- Utilize engineering software and tools to create and analyze project designs, ensuring they meet industry standards and client requirements.
- Manage project documentation, including contracts, change orders, and progress reports, to maintain clear communication and accountability.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance project efficiency and effectiveness.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and interns, fostering a culture of learning and professional development within the team.
- Liaise with external vendors and contractors to ensure timely delivery of materials and services required for project execution.
- Conduct feasibility studies and cost analysis to support project proposals and decision-making processes.
- Ensure that all engineering activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or related field) from an accredited institution.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in project engineering or a related role, preferably within the construction or infrastructure sectors.
- Proficiency in engineering design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or similar tools.
- Strong understanding of project management methodologies and tools, with experience in Agile or Lean practices being a plus.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and quality assurance processes within the engineering field.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
Nice to have
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
- Experience with sustainable design practices and green building certifications (e.g., LEED).
- Knowledge of building codes and regulations specific to California.
- Familiarity with project management software such as Microsoft Project or Asana.
- Previous experience in client-facing roles, enhancing customer relationships and satisfaction.
