What you'll do
- Design and develop control systems for automated machinery and processes, ensuring they meet project specifications and industry standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, software developers, and project managers, to integrate control systems into larger systems.
- Conduct system testing and validation to ensure functionality and performance meet established criteria.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to control systems, providing timely support to minimize downtime.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for control systems, including design specifications, testing protocols, and user manuals.
- Stay current with industry trends and advancements in control technologies, incorporating best practices into your work.
- Participate in project planning and scheduling, providing input on timelines and resource allocation for control system development.
- Mentor junior engineers and interns, sharing your expertise and fostering a collaborative learning environment.
- Assist in the development of training programs for end-users to ensure effective operation of control systems.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools that could enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of control systems.
- Support the implementation of safety standards and protocols in all control system designs and operations.
- Work closely with clients to understand their needs and provide tailored solutions that align with their operational goals.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in controls engineering or a similar role, with a strong focus on automation systems.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) programming, ladder logic, and structured text.
- Experience with HMI (Human-Machine Interface) design and implementation.
- Familiarity with industrial communication protocols, such as Modbus, Ethernet/IP, and Profibus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex control systems.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate with team members and clients.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of safety standards and regulations related to control systems and automation.
Nice to have
- Experience with SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems and software.
- Familiarity with robotics and motion control systems.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Certification in relevant control systems technologies or methodologies.
