About the role
A Staff Product Designer on Bridge is a senior-level design position focused on leading high-impact work that shapes Dropbox's strategic direction in AI. The role reports to the Bridge organization and centers on driving end-to-end design for complex features and initiatives. You will operate at the intersection of product strategy, interaction design, visual design, and prototyping, ensuring that solutions align with both user needs and business goals. This is an exempt, full-time role that may involve travel and requires eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship.
What you'll do
You will lead multiple highly-visible design initiatives that deliver against Dropbox's strategic bets around AI on Bridge. You will lead with vision, driving strategic initiatives that blend design excellence with customer empathy and innovation. You will own the end-to-end design process for complex features, translating ambiguous problems into clear, compelling product directions. You will partner closely with product managers, engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders to define and evolve the user experience. You will bring structure to discovery and synthesis, turning research and data into actionable design opportunities. You will advocate for usability, accessibility, and performance while ensuring the design system remains coherent and scalable. You will mentor other designers, elevating the team's collective craft and raising the bar for execution. You will communicate design decisions with clarity and confidence, aligning stakeholders through storytelling and evidence-based rationale.
Responsibilities include defining high-level opportunities that have the potential to transform the user experience and business outcomes, and bringing clarity, insight, and strategic focus to these challenges. You will conduct deep user research to uncover unmet needs, behaviors, and contexts that inform the design direction, and translate research findings into personas, journey maps, and scenarios that guide product decisions. You will collaborate with product managers to shape product requirements, success metrics, and prioritization trade-offs. You will develop interaction flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity mockups that clearly communicate the intended experience, and build and maintain compelling prototypes to validate concepts and gather feedback from users and stakeholders. You will define and drive the visual design language, ensuring consistency, accessibility, and delight across the product surface. You will work closely with engineers during implementation to refine details and advocate for quality in the final product. You will contribute to the long-term vision and roadmap for the design area, identifying opportunities for process improvement and innovation. You will mentor and provide feedback to other designers, fostering a culture of craftsmanship and continuous learning. You will represent the design voice in cross-functional discussions, ensuring user needs are reflected in key decisions, and measure the impact of design changes and iterate based on qualitative and quantitative signals. You will champion design system contributions to improve efficiency and coherence across teams.
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must be a current US citizen or permanent resident and be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or at any time during the duration of employment. You must reside in one of the following states: California, Colorado, Massachusetts, New York, Oregon, Washington. You must have at least 8 years of relevant experience as a product designer, with a strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in designing complex digital products. You must have deep experience with design tools such as Figma and prototyping methods, and be comfortable working with technical constraints and collaborating effectively with engineering teams. You must communicate clearly and persuasively with both design peers and executive stakeholders, and be self-motivated, disciplined, and able to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Nice to have
Experience in AI-related products or design systems is preferred, along with mentoring designers or leading cross-functional initiatives.
Practical notes
This role is full-time and exempt. It may require travel and may require access to Dropbox servers and systems. New hires may be required to complete employment eligibility verification documents upon hire.
