You will join a team that is actively shaping the daily character and long term identity of a coastal golf environment. This position places you at the center of the course creation process, where your efforts directly influence how players experience the property. You will be responsible for the physical realization of design intent, translating concepts for turf health and playability into tangible results on the ground. The role requires a strong sense of ownership over every square meter of the playing surfaces under your care. You will operate with autonomy, making timely decisions that support the schedule and standards of a high end golf project. Success in this position is defined by your ability to maintain exceptional conditions while adapting to the specific challenges of a developing community. You will work hand in hand with other departments to ensure that maintenance activities align with the overall vision for the property. What you'll do

Establish new turf areas by installing and monitoring sod, sprigs, and tepes on fairways and transition zones to support seamless course openings.

Implement precise irrigation strategies by managing hand watering and automated systems to control dust, promote rooting, and maintain firm, consistent surfaces.

Prepare greens with exacting standards for morning cuttings, ensuring surface quality, speed consistency, and true ball reaction for members and guests.

Conduct meticulous bunkering operations, including raking, grooming, and edge definition to preserve playability and aesthetic integrity.

Perform detailed mapping and tracking of course conditions to identify wear patterns, stress zones, and opportunities for proactive improvement.

Execute erosion control and surface stabilization measures on slopes, cart paths, and high traffic areas to protect the landscape and design features.

Coordinate closely with agronomy specialists to translate soil and plant health data into practical maintenance actions across the property.

Operate and maintain a diverse range of equipment, from mowers and aerifiers to hand tools, to keep the course in optimal working order.

Support habitat enhancement projects by maintaining natural areas, shorelines, and transitional spaces that contribute to biodiversity.

Monitor and respond to daily weather, usage, and growth cycles to adjust practices and keep the course in peak condition at all times.

Carry out seasonal transitions and cultural practices that align with the regional climate and the specific demands of a coastal environment.

Document all maintenance activities to support long term planning, compliance, and continuity as the community develops.

Collaborate with on site staff to ensure that maintenance efforts enhance the visual appeal and functionality of the golf experience.

Contribute to the overall safety and presentation of the property by addressing uneven lies, divots, and surface inconsistencies promptly.

Requirements

You must have a strong background in golf course maintenance or groundskeeping, with demonstrable experience handling complex turf management tasks.

You should be comfortable working outdoors in a physically demanding setting, capable of performing repeated bending, lifting, and extended periods of activity.

You need to be able to follow detailed instructions and adapt quickly to changing priorities in a fast paced, project driven environment.

You must hold a valid driver's license and have a clean driving record, as the role involves operating vehicles and equipment across the property.

You are required to pass a background check and meet any site specific safety and access protocols established by the development.

You should be willing to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, occasional evenings, and variable hours to support course operations and special events.

You need to demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and a professional attitude in team settings with staff, contractors, and visitors.

You must be able to communicate effectively in Spanish or English, both in written and verbal contexts, to coordinate tasks and share safety information.

Nice to have

Experience with coastal turf species, sand based rootzone management, and environmental stewardship practices.

Knowledge of golf agronomy principles, including mowing regimes, topdressing, and integrated pest management strategies.

Understanding of golf course architecture and how maintenance decisions influence playability and design expression.

Practical notes

This is a full time regular position with hours aligned to course operations, which may include weekend and holiday work.

Travel is not required beyond the immediate work location in Vernon, Florida.

Employment is contingent on successful completion of any required background checks and compliance with local regulations.
