About the role
Technical Product Owner

We are a certified B Corp and Climate Neutral organization. Clients such as Gant, Inter Milan, bol.com, and Just Eat Takeaway trust our expertise.
We are seeking a Technical Product Owner to join our Experience & Engineering team in the Netherlands. This role serves as the critical bridge between client objectives and our delivery teams. You will own the translation of strategic vision into tangible digital outcomes for our partners. Your focus will be on ensuring clarity of business goals and enabling fast, sustainable execution through the solutions we provide.
About the role
The Technical Product Owner acts as the primary liaison between client strategy and technical delivery within DEPT®®'s Experience & Engineering organization. You will operate at the center of complex digital ecosystems, ensuring that ambitious brand objectives are translated into actionable, testable product outcomes. This position demands a balance of commercial acumen and technical understanding, allowing you to navigate both business and engineering conversations with confidence. You will be responsible for safeguarding product value throughout the delivery lifecycle while fostering collaboration across internal and external stakeholders.
This role is particularly suited for individuals who thrive in client-facing environments and are comfortable operating within agile, matrixed teams. You will manage multiple priorities across strategic accounts, ensuring that each engagement progresses from discovery to implementation in a coherent and measurable way. The position requires a disciplined approach to product management, with an emphasis on clarity, traceability, and continuous alignment with evolving client needs.
What you'll do
You will own the end-to-end journey for key strategic accounts, transforming high-level vision into shipped value through disciplined workflow management. This includes leading discovery sessions to clarify scope and technical feasibility, designing workflows that convert complex business processes into testable product increments, and establishing review checkpoints to ensure requirements remain aligned with data insights and evolving client expectations.
Delivery speed is a core consideration in this role. You will champion the shipment of increments while vigilantly monitoring quality and perceived user value. You will collaborate with internal ecosystems to refine propositions based on market feedback, translating ambiguous directives into clear, executable agile stories to ensure team efficiency.
Backlog health will require constant attention as you prioritize items and adjust the roadmap in concert with client teams. You will define test cases and coordinate user acceptance testing with QA partners to ensure solutions meet standards before full rollout. Throughout this process, you will maintain traceability between business objectives, requirements, and delivered functionality.
Requirements
Candidates must possess a minimum of five years of experience, ideally within a digital agency or client-facing capacity. Commercial awareness and the ability to navigate complex environments are non-negotiable, as success in this role depends on understanding intricate organizational dynamics and stakeholder motivations. You must communicate with precision across diverse audiences, including executives, creatives, engineers, and vendors.
Mastery of project management and agile methodologies is required to guide delivery predictability. You should thrive as an organizer and facilitator, maintaining momentum across distributed teams. Proficiency with JIRA and Confluence is mandatory for documenting decisions and tracking progress.
Fluency in English is essential; proficiency in Dutch is advantageous. Formal recognition in requirements engineering provides a structured foundation for success in this role, ensuring that your approach to product ownership is both rigorous and repeatable.
