About the role
You will own the complete end-to-end accounts payable process for DeepL SE, ensuring that supplier invoices are received, verified, coded, and posted in strict accordance with matching principles and accounting standards. You will analyse accounts payable ageing, spend patterns, and approval cycle data to uncover trends, bottlenecks, and opportunities for cost savings, then translate these insights into clear recommendations for Finance leadership. You will build and maintain detailed variance analyses for accounts payable accruals and open purchase orders, supporting robust cash flow forecasting by modelling upcoming payment obligations and timing. You will explain the underlying story of double-entry accounting, tracing and articulating the profit and loss and balance sheet impact of accounts payable transactions including invoices, accruals, payments, and VAT. You will oversee Travel and Expense reporting and compliance for DeepL SE and Group, monitoring travel bookings, expense claims, and corporate card spend to ensure policy adherence and to flag exceptions for investigation. You will reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies, queries, and disputes directly with suppliers in a timely and professional manner. You will also reconcile corporate credit card statements, keeping the subledger continuously up to date and perfectly matched to supporting receipts. You will actively support month-end and year-end close activities for DeepL SE and Group, including managing accruals, reviewing open purchase orders, and processing journal entries as required. You will maintain accurate, audit-ready documentation and respond promptly to internal and external audit requests relating to payables for DeepL SE. You will partner with Procurement, Legal, and budget owners to ensure new suppliers and contracts are onboarded correctly and that payment terms are consistently respected. You will help develop the structures and standards for the P2P team specific to DeepL SE, contributing to digitalisation and automation initiatives as part of the wider P2P transformation programme. You will use tools including Workday, Oracle, and other systems to ensure data integrity and process efficiency across the full accounts payable cycle.
