What you'll do

• Design, implement, and optimize electrical and mechanical systems within data centers to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
• Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of critical infrastructure to identify and resolve potential issues before they impact operations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and execute preventive maintenance programs that enhance system longevity and efficiency.
• Analyze system performance data to identify trends, troubleshoot issues, and recommend improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
• Prepare detailed technical documentation, including system specifications, maintenance procedures, and compliance reports.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations related to electrical and mechanical systems in critical environments.
• Manage and oversee contractors and vendors involved in the installation and maintenance of electrical and mechanical systems.
• Participate in the development of emergency response plans and conduct training sessions for staff on safety protocols and best practices.
• Stay updated on the latest technologies and industry trends to continually enhance the performance of our critical environments.
• Provide technical support and guidance to other engineering teams and stakeholders as needed.
• Assist in the budgeting and forecasting of maintenance and operational costs related to electrical and mechanical systems.
• Engage in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize processes and reduce operational costs while maintaining high service levels.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in engineering roles focused on critical environments, preferably within the data center industry.
• Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems, including HVAC, power distribution, and backup systems.
• Proven experience in project management, with the ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously.
• Familiarity with industry standards such as ISO 50001, NFPA, and local regulations governing electrical and mechanical systems.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Professional certifications such as PMP, LEED, or equivalent are advantageous.
• Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS) and Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) tools.
• Knowledge of energy efficiency practices and sustainability initiatives in critical environments.

Skills & tools

• Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar design software for creating and modifying engineering drawings.
• Familiarity with simulation software for modeling electrical and mechanical systems.
• Strong analytical skills with experience in data analysis tools and methodologies.
• Competence in using Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data management and reporting.

Practical notes

• This position may require occasional travel to other Bamboohr sites or client locations.
• Candidates must be willing to participate in on-call rotations for emergency response situations.
• The role may involve working in environments with varying temperatures and noise levels typical of data centers.
