What you'll do

• Design and implement electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, and backup systems, tailored for data center operations.
• Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of electrical equipment to ensure compliance with safety regulations and operational efficiency.
• Troubleshoot electrical issues, diagnosing problems effectively and implementing timely solutions to minimize downtime.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers and project managers, to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems into overall facility designs.
• Prepare detailed documentation of electrical designs, maintenance procedures, and operational protocols for future reference and training purposes.
• Assist in the commissioning of new electrical systems, ensuring they meet performance specifications and operational requirements before going live.
• Monitor energy consumption and implement strategies to optimize energy efficiency across all electrical systems.
• Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and regulatory changes to ensure that Data4 remains at the forefront of electrical engineering practices.
• Provide technical support and guidance to junior engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of learning and development within the team.
• Participate in safety audits and risk assessments, contributing to the development of a safe working environment for all employees.
• Engage with external vendors and contractors to coordinate electrical installations and repairs, ensuring compliance with company standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in electrical engineering, preferably within data centers or similar environments.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems design, installation, and maintenance practices.
• Proficiency in using electrical design software and tools for system modeling and analysis.
• Familiarity with relevant electrical codes and standards, including NEC, IEC, and local regulations.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach to troubleshooting electrical issues.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to travel occasionally to other Data4 facilities or client sites as needed.

Nice to have

• Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification.
• Experience with renewable energy systems or energy management solutions.
• Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS) and automation technologies.
• Knowledge of fire alarm systems and emergency power systems.
• Previous experience in project management or leading engineering teams.

Skills & tools
