About the role
Darkroom is on the lookout for an Email Marketing Specialist to spearhead email and SMS marketing initiatives for direct-to-consumer brands. This position focuses on crafting and executing impactful marketing campaigns, leveraging data to inform strategies, and driving revenue growth for our clients. You will collaborate closely with Associate Directors and various teams to ensure successful outcomes for rapidly expanding DTC brands.

What you'll do
- Take charge of developing and executing email and SMS marketing strategies for a portfolio of clients, working in tandem with Associate Directors to align on objectives.
- Oversee the complete campaign deployment process, which includes drafting compelling copy, briefing team members, conducting testing, ensuring quality assurance, launching campaigns, and tracking performance metrics.
- Contribute to the creation of monthly retention marketing calendars while also proposing innovative campaign ideas to both clients and internal teams.
- Present creative content concepts during client meetings and manage the revision and approval processes to ensure alignment with client expectations.
- Work closely with the design team to craft engaging visuals and copy that enhance campaign effectiveness.
- Build, audit, and optimize automation workflows, pop-up logic, audience segmentation, and app integrations to improve marketing efficiency.
- Analyze the performance of campaigns and automated flows, providing actionable insights to enhance retention key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices to continually refine and enhance email and SMS marketing strategies.
- Foster strong relationships with clients, ensuring their needs are met and expectations exceeded through effective communication and project management.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure a cohesive approach to marketing strategies across various channels.
- Monitor competitor activities and market trends to identify opportunities for differentiation and growth.
Requirements
- A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in email or SMS marketing, lifecycle marketing, or CRM, ideally within a direct-to-consumer agency or e-commerce environment.
- Proficient in using Klaviyo, with a deep understanding of flows, audience segmentation, A/B testing methodologies, deliverability issues, and performance reporting.
- Exceptional copywriting abilities, with a talent for adjusting tone and voice to suit different brands and target audiences.
- A strategic mindset regarding the customer journey, with the ability to implement retention tactics that enhance customer lifetime value (LTV) and minimize churn rates.
- Comfortable presenting marketing strategies and receiving feedback directly from clients, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills.
- Highly organized and self-motivated, capable of managing multiple client accounts in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English, ensuring clear and effective communication with clients and team members.
Nice to have
- Experience with additional email marketing platforms beyond Klaviyo, such as Mailchimp or ActiveCampaign.
- Familiarity with data analytics tools to measure and report on campaign performance.
- Knowledge of e-commerce best practices and trends, particularly in the DTC space.
- Previous experience working in a fully remote environment, demonstrating adaptability and self-discipline.
- Understanding of SEO principles and how they can be integrated into email marketing strategies.

This position is entirely remote, catering to a team operating in the Eastern Standard Time (EST) zone. Candidates must reside in Brazil, Portugal, or Spain to be eligible for this role.
