About the role
Darkroom is seeking a Senior Designer who will own the end-to-end design of client marketing programs that span paid, owned, and earned channels. In this position, you will translate ambiguous business goals into clear visual narratives that drive measurable growth across funnels and touchpoints. You will act as the visual strategist for retention initiatives, shaping how brands show up in media, commerce, and direct customer relationships. You will balance brand integrity with performance heuristics to ensure every pixel serves both clarity and conversion. This role requires you to own complex projects from initial discovery through final delivery while maintaining rigorous quality standards. You will be expected to question assumptions, reframe creative problems, and elevate the work of peers through thoughtful critique and leadership.

What you'll do
- Design and iterate on paid media creative, email and SMS flows, landing pages, retention interfaces, organic social content, and Amazon creative based on briefs from Marketing Managers.
- Build and maintain client-specific design systems derived from brand guidelines, ensuring consistent visual language across channels and touchpoints.
- Lead client-facing workshops, present design concepts on calls, and guide stakeholders through collaborative sessions to refine requirements and align on outcomes.
- Conduct deep analysis of channel-specific performance data to inform design decisions and optimize layouts, hierarchies, and interactions for higher conversion.
- Partner closely with project managers and developers to translate designs into implemented web experiences, ensuring fidelity, accessibility, and technical feasibility.
- Produce high-fidelity digital assets that adhere to Darkroom's web and brand design guidelines while supporting the distinct needs of each client project.
- Take end-to-end ownership of assigned client accounts, coordinating feedback, consolidating approvals, and maintaining strong working relationships over time.
- Collaborate daily with a multidisciplinary team of designers, retention managers, and developers to iterate quickly and uphold exceptional quality.
- Contribute strategic perspective during client conversations, helping to frame opportunities, surface risks, and propose design-led solutions.
- Mentor junior designers on the team by providing clear direction, design standards, and constructive feedback to raise the overall standard of craft.
Requirements
Hard Skills
- 3+ years of proven design work experience (agency or design studio experience is preferred).
- Digital portfolio that demonstrates strong branding & identity, visual design, marketing design, and/or web design.
- Proven understanding of design principles including layout, hierarchy, color theory, typography, and composition.
- Strong ability to lead client calls, drive workshopping sessions, and manage a client relationship directly.
- Strong proficiency in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite is required.
- Fluency in English is required. Candidate must be proficient in speaking, writing, and presenting work to clients in English.
Soft Skills

What you'll do
- Design digital assets that support a range of client marketing initiatives briefed by a Marketing Manager: paid ads, email & SMS, landing pages, organic social, Amazon creative, and more.
- Create design systems based on a client's brand guidelines to be used across multiple channels, ensuring consistency of a client's brand identity, look, and feel.
- Communicate with clients directly and present designs on calls, lead clients through workshopping, and obtain approvals while maintaining a strong working relationship.
- Develop a deep understanding of what factors drive customers to convert on different marketing channels and execute designs within established best practices.
- Collaborate closely with team members and clients for feedback and approvals to ensure your work adheres to a high standard of craft.
- Design landing pages within Figma by using UI/UX best practices and adhering to Darkroom's web design guidelines.
- Collaborate with project managers and developers to deliver web design initiatives such as landing pages, web design updates, and more.
- This role is on the Creative team and reports to the Design Director. You'll work alongside a team of 8+ Designers, each supporting their own roster of 5+ client accounts.
