About the role
This position is responsible for significantly expanding Cursor's market footprint and recognition across the Asia-Pacific Japan (APJ) territory. The successful candidate will architect and execute a business development strategy centered on cultivating relationships with the most influential executive stakeholders in the region. You will own the identification and conversion of high-value opportunities, acting as the primary external advocate for Cursor's vision and capabilities. A core part of this role involves building and maintaining a robust network of C-level and senior executive relationships that consistently generate new business pipelines. You will work in close collaboration with internal stakeholders including product, marketing, and engineering teams to ensure market feedback is captured and addressed. The ultimate objective is to establish Cursor as the indispensable AI development platform within the APJ enterprise and venture ecosystems. This role demands a high degree of ownership, strategic foresight, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, ambiguity-driven environment.

What you'll do
- Architect and oversee the executive briefing network across the APJ region, identifying and activating key decision-makers at scale.
- Serve as the lead orchestrator for executive-level engagements, arranging and managing multi-day visits for Cursor leadership while retaining end-to-end responsibility for the relationship lifecycle.
- Conduct deep market discovery to uncover nascent sub-regions, emerging industry verticals, and unconventional go-to-market strategies for customer acquisition.
- Spearhead the implementation of the regional enterprise growth plan, managing the entire customer journey from initial event planning through to deal handoff and closure.
- Forge and nurture strategic partnerships with ecosystem players, customers, and other critical stakeholders to amplify growth initiatives and market reach.
- Analyze competitive dynamics and market trends to refine positioning and ensure Cursor's value proposition remains distinct and compelling.
- Develop and maintain a rigorous pipeline of opportunities, forecasting with precision to align sales targets with business objectives.
- Act as the primary point of contact for key accounts, ensuring alignment between customer expectations and Cursor's delivery capabilities.
- Drive the adoption of AI-native development methodologies by demonstrating Cursor's impact through concrete use cases and success metrics.
- Champion data-driven decision making, utilizing insights to optimize outreach methods and resource allocation across the region.
- Build and mentor local teams on best practices for enterprise selling in the AI era, ensuring sustainable growth beyond the initial hire.
- Represent Cursor at major industry forums and executive gatherings, elevating brand visibility and thought leadership.
- Establish rigorous governance around stakeholder communication, ensuring transparency and trust with all partners.
- Identify and mitigate business risks proactively, developing contingency plans to safeguard revenue streams and partnerships.
Requirements
- Must possess 12 or more years of cumulative experience in business development, venture capital, or enterprise sales roles.
- Demonstrated ability to navigate highly uncertain situations and a proven track record of achieving objectives without predefined instructions or constant supervision.
- Extensive direct experience working directly with customers and collaborating cross-functionally to deliver complex projects.
- Must be a self-motivated individual with a history of professional drive, initiative, and resilience in the face of challenges.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, combined with a strong executive presence capable of commanding respect in C-suite settings.
- Proven capability to operate as a "super individual contributor," delivering high-impact work independently and efficiently.
- Solid understanding of the developer tooling landscape and current trends in artificial intelligence, including practical applications and limitations.
- Willingness to embrace the remote work model, utilizing digital collaboration tools to maintain high levels of productivity and engagement.
