About the role
Become a key member of the Cloud Engineering team at CUBE as a Senior Platform Engineer, where you will play a vital role in shaping our cloud strategy and SecDevOps practices. This position requires collaboration across various teams including engineering, security, infrastructure, and product development. You will provide high-level technical guidance for cloud initiatives, modernization projects, and the transition from our data center.

What you'll do
- Architect, build, and manage systems within the team's domain as a senior, hands-on contributor.
- Oversee cloud infrastructure on Microsoft Azure, emphasizing Landing Zone architecture and governance protocols.
- Deploy and manage containerized applications leveraging Docker and Kubernetes effectively.
- Create and sustain infrastructure-as-code using Terraform to ensure uniform deployment practices.
- Establish and maintain CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps and GitHub, while managing source code through Git.
- Design and uphold scalable search and analytics frameworks utilizing Elasticsearch.
- Write automation scripts in Bash or PowerShell to enhance operational efficiency.
- Contribute to tooling and automation efforts using programming languages like Python or Golang.
- Implement monitoring, alerting, and observability solutions with tools such as Prometheus or New Relic.
- Ensure that systems adhere to standards for reliability, performance, security, compliance, and recoverability.
- Take full ownership of systems throughout their lifecycle, including incident management and root cause analysis.
- Develop and maintain reusable infrastructure patterns and self-service modules for development teams.
- Strategically plan and execute system modifications using structured change control and deployment methodologies.
- Validate and maintain backup, recovery, and resilience strategies.
- Identify potential risks, bottlenecks, and areas of technical debt, driving ongoing improvements.
- Collaborate with Software Engineers, QA Engineers, and Platform Engineers to ensure systems align with business and application requirements.
- Embrace and promote the use of AI-assisted engineering tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cowork) to enhance delivery speed and quality, while supporting the team in skill development.
- Mentor junior engineers and advocate for best practices in systems engineering and operations.
Requirements
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in systems engineering, platform engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Azure, particularly in Landing Zone design and execution.
- Practical experience with Kubernetes (AKS) and Docker in live production settings.
- Proven track record of utilizing Terraform for infrastructure provisioning and management.
- Familiarity with Azure DevOps, GitHub, and Git for CI/CD and version control processes.
- Proficient in scripting languages such as Bash or PowerShell.
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools like Prometheus or New Relic.
- Strong understanding of system reliability, security, compliance, and operational risk management principles.
- Demonstrated experience in operating and supporting mission-critical production systems.
- Ability to automate, optimize, and scale systems effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating technical concepts and trade-offs clearly.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently, demonstrating accountability and sound judgment.
- An inclination towards adopting AI tools to enhance and accelerate engineering delivery.
Nice to have
- Extensive experience working with Elasticsearch.
- Familiarity with at least one programming language such as Python or Golang.
- Experience in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE).
- Background in sectors such as Financial Services, Energy & Utilities, RegTech, or Professional Services.
