What you'll do

• Conduct thorough analysis of project plans and specifications to prepare accurate cost estimates for mechanical and electrical systems.
• Collaborate with project managers and engineers to understand project requirements and constraints, ensuring all estimates are aligned with project goals.
• Utilize advanced estimating software and tools to create detailed cost breakdowns, including labor, materials, and overhead costs.
• Review and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to identify potential challenges and opportunities for cost savings.
• Prepare and submit bid proposals, including detailed documentation and justifications for cost estimates.
• Maintain a comprehensive database of historical costs and pricing trends to inform future estimates and enhance accuracy.
• Engage with subcontractors and suppliers to gather quotes and assess their reliability and competitiveness.
• Participate in project meetings to provide insights on budgetary considerations and assist in decision-making processes.
• Monitor project budgets and expenditures throughout the project lifecycle, providing regular updates to stakeholders.
• Assist in the development of project schedules and timelines, ensuring that estimates align with project milestones.
• Identify and mitigate risks associated with cost overruns and project delays, proposing solutions to keep projects on track.
• Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices to continuously improve estimating processes and methodologies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical and electrical estimating within the construction industry.
• Proficient in using estimating software such as Bluebeam, Sage Estimating, or similar tools.
• Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical distribution.
• Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail and accuracy in cost estimation.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with various stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and team members.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
• Familiarity with local building codes, regulations, and industry standards in Florida.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain comprehensive documentation.

Nice to have

• Certification from a recognized professional organization, such as the American Society of Professional Estimators (ASPE).
• Experience with project management software, such as Procore or Microsoft Project.
• Knowledge of sustainable building practices and energy-efficient systems.
• Bilingual proficiency in Spanish or other languages is a plus.

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office Suite applications.
• Strong mathematical skills and the ability to perform complex calculations.
• Familiarity with CAD software for interpreting design documents.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically under pressure.
• Strong negotiation skills to secure favorable terms with suppliers and subcontractors.
