You will lead SEO strategy across search engines, AI-powered discovery platforms, and web surfaces to improve learner acquisition and platform visibility. This position requires a strategic thinker who can translate complex technical concepts into actionable SEO roadmaps that align with business objectives. The successful candidate will own the end-to-end SEO lifecycle from research and planning through execution and measurement in a rapidly evolving environment. What you'll do
- Conduct comprehensive keyword and topic research to identify high-impact opportunities for organic visibility across search and discovery platforms.
- Architect and maintain a scalable SEO content strategy that addresses learner intent across the entire journey from awareness to conversion.
- Perform detailed technical SEO audits and diagnostics to uncover issues impacting crawlability, indexation, and search visibility.
- Optimize site architecture, URL structures, and internal linking frameworks to improve user and search engine navigation efficiency.
- Implement and validate structured data markup to enhance search result appearance and support AI-powered discovery features.
- Coordinate with engineering teams to resolve complex technical SEO challenges related to site performance, rendering, and mobile optimization.
- Establish rigorous testing methodologies to measure the impact of SEO initiatives on traffic quality, engagement, and conversion rates.
- Develop advanced reporting dashboards that communicate SEO performance and business impact to executive and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Lead cross-functional collaboration sessions to ensure SEO considerations are integrated into product launches and content strategies.
- Monitor competitor SEO strategies and industry search trends to identify new opportunities and potential threats to organic visibility.
- Manage and optimize large-scale content catalogs to ensure content freshness, relevance, and alignment with search intent.
- Spearhead initiatives to improve Core Web Vitals and page experience metrics that influence search rankings and user satisfaction.
- Create and maintain documentation for SEO processes, best practices, and tactical playbooks to ensure team scalability.
- Partner with content and growth teams to design experiments that test hypotheses about search behavior and ranking factors.
- Drive initiatives that optimize visibility not only in web search but also in AI answer engines and emerging discovery interfaces.
Requirements
- 7+ years of in-house SEO experience for large-scale platforms, marketplaces, or websites with measurable impact on organic performance.
- Proven track record of leading technical SEO initiatives alongside engineering teams to resolve complex implementation challenges.
- Proficiency with data and SEO platforms such as Google Search Console, Ahrefs, Semrush, Screaming Frog, Looker, Tableau, and Google Analytics for comprehensive analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and deliver measurable results through data-driven SEO strategies.
- Strong understanding of search engine algorithms, ranking factors, and how they apply to educational and marketplace platforms.
- Experience leading SEO projects in fast-paced environments requiring prioritization and agility without sacrificing quality.
- Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for presenting strategies and results to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Nice to have
- Experience with AI-driven search analysis tools like Profound or Promptwatch to optimize for next-generation discovery interfaces.
- Background in optimizing for discovery surfaces beyond web search, such as app stores or social platforms, to expand reach.
- Expertise in programmatic page generation and managing large content catalogs efficiently at scale.
- Experience with international or multi-language site optimization and localization to support global learner acquisition.
- Technical skills in SQL, Python, or other BI tools for experimentation and analysis to accelerate insight generation.
Practical notes
Salary: US Zone 3 ($138,800 to $173,500) and US Zone 4 ($129,200 to $161,500).
