About the role
CoreWeave is seeking a Hardware Engineer to focus on liquid cooling systems for our high-performance AI infrastructure. You will contribute to the design, testing, and deployment of thermal management solutions that support our large-scale GPU compute clusters. In this capacity, you will own the end-to-end thermal strategy for critical compute platforms, ensuring that thermal constraints never impede performance or reliability. You will act as the primary technical lead for liquid cooling initiatives, translating high-level infrastructure goals into detailed engineering specifications. Your work will directly influence the efficiency and scalability of our data center footprint by enabling higher compute density within thermal limits. You will partner closely with hardware, operations, and infrastructure teams to align cooling solutions with business and technical objectives. This role requires a disciplined approach to validation, documentation, and continuous improvement of thermal systems. You will be responsible for ensuring that every cooling intervention is safe, measurable, and sustainable across diverse deployment environments.

What you'll do
- Architect liquid cooling topologies tailored to specific GPU and accelerator configurations.
- Evaluate and select cooling hardware components such as cold plates, pumps, and manifolds for data center applications.
- Model thermal behavior of compute modules using simulation tools to predict performance under peak load conditions.
- Coordinate with mechanical and electrical engineering teams to align cooling infrastructure with power and space constraints.
- Develop test procedures and validation protocols to verify thermal performance against design targets.
- Instrument test benches with sensors and data acquisition systems to capture thermal performance metrics.
- Analyze test results to identify deviations and drive root cause analysis for cooling-related anomalies.
- Support rapid iteration of cooling designs based on empirical data and field feedback.
- Partner with operations teams to standardize installation and maintenance procedures for cooling systems.
- Lead failure mode analysis to improve component selection and system resilience.
- Document thermal test campaigns and results in a clear, reproducible format for internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with vendors to prototype new cooling components and assess their suitability for large-scale deployment.
- Monitor industry trends in liquid cooling and recommend adoption strategies for CoreWeave infrastructure.
- Ensure all cooling solutions comply with safety standards and data center operational best practices.
Requirements
- Hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
- Demonstrate hands-on experience designing or testing liquid cooling systems for electronic equipment.
- Show a strong grasp of thermodynamics, heat transfer principles, and fluid dynamics as applied to cooling systems.
- Have practical experience with thermal simulation tools such as CFD or related modeling software.
- Bring familiarity with data center infrastructure, including power delivery, airflow management, and rack layout considerations.
- Prove ability to work in an on-site role in New York, Sunnyvale, or Bellevue on a full-time basis.
- Exhibit strong analytical skills and a methodical approach to diagnosing thermal performance issues.
- Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders during design reviews and incident responses.

Practical notes
