What you'll do
- Lead the development and implementation of comprehensive cybersecurity strategies that align with Bamboohr's business objectives and risk appetite.
- Oversee the design and execution of security policies, procedures, and protocols to protect sensitive data and systems from unauthorized access and breaches.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and vulnerability analyses to identify potential security weaknesses and recommend appropriate remediation strategies.
- Collaborate with IT and engineering teams to integrate security measures into the software development lifecycle, ensuring secure coding practices are followed.
- Manage incident response activities, including the investigation and resolution of security incidents, and ensure timely reporting to stakeholders.
- Develop and deliver training programs to enhance cybersecurity awareness among employees, promoting best practices in information security.
- Stay abreast of the latest cybersecurity trends, threats, and technologies, and evaluate their potential impact on the organization.
- Establish and maintain relationships with external partners, including law enforcement and cybersecurity agencies, to enhance threat intelligence sharing and collaboration.
- Prepare and present regular reports to senior management on the status of the cybersecurity program, including metrics and key performance indicators.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards, such as GDPR, HIPAA, and PCI-DSS, and lead audits to verify adherence to these requirements.
- Mentor and guide junior cybersecurity staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the team.
- Participate in cross-functional projects to ensure cybersecurity considerations are integrated into business initiatives and technology deployments.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in cybersecurity, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of security frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, and CIS Controls.
- Proven experience in risk management, incident response, and vulnerability management.
- Excellent understanding of network security, application security, and cloud security principles.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and compliance standards relevant to the financial services industry.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically under pressure.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex security concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CISA are highly desirable.
Nice to have
- Experience with security tools and technologies, including SIEM, firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and endpoint protection solutions.
- Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++ for security automation and scripting.
- Familiarity with cloud security platforms and services, particularly in AWS or Azure environments.
- Previous experience in the financial services sector or a regulated industry is a plus.
Skills & tools
- Proficient in security information and event management (SIEM) tools and threat intelligence platforms.
- Strong understanding of encryption technologies and secure communication protocols.
- Experience with security assessment tools, such as penetration testing and vulnerability scanning solutions.
- Familiarity with incident response frameworks and methodologies, including NIST and SANS.
- Knowledge of identity and access management (IAM) solutions and best practices.
