About the role
As the Manager of Governance at Condoauthorityontario, you will play a role in shaping the governance framework that supports the organization's mission to enhance the condominium sector in Ontario. What you'll do
- Develop and implement governance policies and frameworks that align with the strategic goals of Condoauthorityontario, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Oversee the preparation and distribution of board meeting materials, including agendas, minutes, and reports, to facilitate informed decision-making by the board of directors.
- Act as a liaison between the board and management, ensuring clear communication and understanding of governance matters and organizational priorities.
- Conduct regular reviews of governance practices and recommend improvements to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the board and its committees.
- Provide guidance and support to board members on governance issues, including roles and responsibilities, ethical conduct, and conflict of interest policies.
- Monitor legislative changes and emerging trends in governance to ensure the organization remains compliant and proactive in its governance practices.
- Facilitate training and development sessions for board members and staff on governance best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies and industry associations, to advocate for policies that benefit the condominium sector and enhance governance standards.
- Prepare reports and presentations for the board and senior management, summarizing governance activities, compliance status, and areas for improvement.
- Lead special projects related to governance initiatives, such as board evaluations and strategic planning sessions, to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Manage the governance budget, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to support governance activities and initiatives.
- Serve as a key resource for inquiries related to governance, providing timely and accurate information to internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in governance, compliance, or a related field, preferably within the public sector or non-profit organizations.
- A bachelor's degree in public administration, business administration, law, or a related discipline; a master's degree or professional designation (e.g., Chartered Governance Professional) is an asset.
- Strong understanding of governance principles, regulatory frameworks, and best practices in the condominium sector or similar industries.
- Proven experience in managing board processes, including meeting preparation, minute-taking, and report writing.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely to diverse audiences.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess risks and develop effective governance solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders, fostering positive relationships and promoting a culture of transparency and accountability.
- High level of integrity and professionalism, with a commitment to ethical governance practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and governance management software; familiarity with data analysis tools is a plus.
