Coherus Oncology is a biopharmaceutical company dedicated to developing and commercializing biosimilar products for oncology and autoimmune disease indications. The Senior Manager, Translational Medicine Sample Logistics will serve as the primary leader responsible for orchestrating the collection, processing, storage, and distribution of biological specimens that support translational medicine research programs. This role is essential to ensuring that high-quality samples reach laboratory scientists and researchers in a timely and compliant manner throughout the study lifecycle. The position reports directly to the Translational Medicine leadership team and maintains close working relationships with clinical operations, laboratory sciences, regulatory affairs, and external academic and industry research partners. The role is based at the Coherus Oncology office in Camarillo, California and requires regular on-site attendance as part of a collaborative, cross-functional organization.

What you'll do

Direct the complete end-to-end sample logistics workflow for translational medicine studies spanning multiple clinical and research sites simultaneously

Coordinate closely with clinical operations teams to align sample collection timelines with patient enrollment schedules and study milestones

Develop, document, and continuously improve standard operating procedures for sample handling, storage conditions, and shipping protocols across all sites

Manage and evaluate relationships with external courier and logistics vendors to ensure reliable, compliant, and timely specimen transport services

Oversee the procurement, inventory management, and tracking of collection kits, storage containers, cryogenic shipping materials, and related supplies

Ensure that all sample logistics activities strictly comply with institutional review board protocols, Good Clinical Practice standards, and applicable regulatory requirements

Analyze sample chain-of-custody data and logistics performance metrics to identify bottlenecks, process improvements, and opportunities to reduce overall turnaround times

Lead, mentor, and develop a team of logistics coordinators by providing regular training, constructive performance feedback, and career development guidance

Collaborate with laboratory scientists and translational researchers to define precise sample processing requirements, storage conditions, and chain-of-custody documentation standards

Prepare comprehensive monthly and quarterly reports on sample logistics performance, capacity utilization, and cost metrics for review by senior leadership

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in a life science, biology, chemistry, or a closely related scientific discipline is required for this position

A minimum of seven years of progressive experience in sample management, clinical logistics, or biorepository operations within a regulated industry setting

Demonstrated track record of managing a team of at least five professionals in a logistics, operations, or supply chain capacity

Thorough and current knowledge of Good Clinical Practice guidelines, human specimen handling regulations, and institutional review board standards

Strong understanding of biospecimen collection procedures, processing workflows, cryogenic storage conditions, and long-term preservation best practices

Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects with competing priorities, shifting timelines, and strict regulatory or contractual deadlines

Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with cross-functional internal teams and external research partners

Willingness and ability to travel up to twenty percent of the time for on-site visits, vendor assessments, and stakeholder meetings

Nice to have

Master's degree in a relevant scientific discipline such as molecular biology or biochemistry, or an MBA with a healthcare industry focus

Prior experience working within the oncology, biosimilar, or pharmaceutical development industry in a sample logistics or translational capacity

Familiarity with laboratory information management systems, electronic data capture platforms, and clinical trial management software

Background in translational medicine research, biomarker-driven study design, or companion diagnostic development programs

Experience with statistical analysis tools for evaluating sample quality metrics and logistics performance benchmarks over time

Skills & tools

Proficiency in logistics management software platforms and specialized specimen tracking systems used in clinical research environments

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word for reporting, presentation development, and documentation purposes

Familiarity with electronic laboratory notebook platforms and scientific data management tools for recording sample handling events

Ability to navigate enterprise resource planning systems for inventory control, supply chain oversight, and procurement workflow management

Understanding of regulatory submission formats, documentation standards, and audit-ready record-keeping practices required in GxP environments

Competence in project management methodologies including waterfall and agile approaches for workflow optimization and process improvement initiatives

This position is physically located at the Coherus Oncology corporate office in Camarillo, California and is not a remote role

The role requires full-time on-site attendance with limited remote work flexibility and regular in-person collaboration with team members
