What you'll do
- Design, develop, test, and deploy scalable applications that form the core of CLEAR's identity platform, ensuring high performance and security standards.
- Manage entire project lifecycles, from technical investigation and architecture design to implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing operational support.
- Collaborate closely with product teams, designers, data engineers, security specialists, and operations staff to translate business requirements into effective, scalable technical solutions.
- Enhance engineering quality by improving system reliability, performance, testing frameworks, observability tools, and the overall developer experience.
- Participate in architectural decisions, contributing to the evolution of the platform's scalability, security, and maintainability.
- Conduct detailed code reviews, mentor team members, and share best practices to foster a culture of continuous improvement within the engineering team.
- Support the development of new features and functionalities that improve user experience and operational efficiency.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues promptly, ensuring minimal impact on users and maintaining system integrity.
- Stay current with industry best practices, emerging technologies, and security standards relevant to identity management and cloud-native applications.
- Contribute to documentation, technical specifications, and knowledge sharing initiatives to support team growth and onboarding.
- Work within an agile environment, participating in sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives to ensure timely delivery of features and fixes.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in software engineering, with a proven track record of developing production applications.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, APIs, and modern software architecture principles.
- Hands-on experience building and operating cloud-native applications, preferably on AWS.
- Demonstrated ability to own complex, cross-functional projects from conception through to production and maintenance.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently, make informed tradeoffs, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- A collaborative approach, with a desire to partner with others, improve engineering practices, and deliver products that generate measurable customer and business impact.
- Familiarity with security best practices and identity management concepts is a plus.
- Experience with containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes is beneficial.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and automation tools to streamline deployment processes.
- Comfort working with version control systems like GitHub.

The total compensation for this role ranges from $180,000 to $220,000, which includes base salary and a new hire equity package in Restricted Stock Units.
