What you'll do
- Lead and oversee the company's engagement with Congress, the Executive Branch, U.S. regulators, and other policy influencers to advance the company's strategic interests.
- Build and nurture relationships with policymakers, legislative staff, and government officials to promote policies aligned with the company's mission and business goals.
- Develop and articulate the company's positions on legislative and regulatory issues concerning financial services, emerging technologies, and national security.
- Monitor, analyze, and interpret policy trends, legislative proposals, and regulatory changes to inform business strategy and provide actionable insights to executive leadership.
- Represent the company at government meetings, industry groups, and public policy forums, ensuring the company's voice is heard in relevant discussions.
- Prepare strategic briefings, talking points, and other materials to equip senior executives for high-level government interactions.
- Collaborate with internal teams across global offices to ensure North American policy strategies are integrated into broader business initiatives.
- Advise senior leadership on the implications of U.S. political, legislative, and regulatory developments, including potential risks and opportunities.
- Identify opportunities for the company to engage with policymakers, participate in consultations, and influence policy outcomes.
- Partner with communications teams to develop thought leadership content, public statements, and educational materials that support the company's policy objectives.
- Support business development efforts by providing policy insights to customers and prospects, demonstrating the company's expertise and leadership in the policy space.
- Oversee relationships with external stakeholders such as lobbyists, trade associations, and third-party coalitions, guiding their messaging and advocacy efforts.
- Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and policy discussions to elevate its profile and foster strategic partnerships.
- Build and maintain a network of policy stakeholders, including government officials, industry leaders, and advocacy groups, to amplify the company's influence.
- Provide ongoing policy insights and thought leadership to internal teams and external audiences, establishing the company as a trusted voice in the policy arena.
- Develop internal and external communications, briefing materials, and enablement resources to support policy initiatives and educate stakeholders.
Requirements
- Over 10 years of experience leading U.S. government policy programs within fast-paced, high-stakes environments, with a proven track record of achieving legislative and regulatory success.
- Extensive experience working on issues related to emerging technology, financial services, or national security policy.
- Deep understanding of how Congress and the Executive Branch operate, including effective engagement strategies and relationship management.
- Demonstrated success in leading policy initiatives that deliver measurable results and align with business objectives.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including legal, compliance, communications, and business units, to achieve strategic goals.
- Strong strategic thinking skills combined with political acumen and the ability to navigate complex policy landscapes.
- Experience working with lobbyists, trade associations, and coalition-building strategies to influence policy outcomes.
- Genuine interest and familiarity with digital assets, blockchain technology, and related policy issues.
- Excellent judgment, with the ability to operate independently and make sound decisions in a dynamic, evolving environment.
- Exceptional communication skills, including writing, public speaking, and analytical capabilities, to clearly articulate complex policy issues to diverse audiences.
